In Destiny 2, you must complete various tasks for the daily Dawning gifts. Here are tips and tricks on how to farm resources like Alchemical Spore and Dawnlight Crystals quickly or defeat certain enemies like the Fanatics fast.
Since the launch of the Winter event “The Dawning”, you can pick up new gift fragments daily from Ikora Rey. For each fragment, you must fulfill two tasks which consist of collecting specific resources (or Engrams) and defeating certain enemies.
Once you’ve completed a fragment, you take the gift to one of the NPC vendors, who will then give you a reward for it. The reward includes some of the new Dawning items, such as the exclusive Dawning sword Zephyr.
While some tasks can be done quickly and “on the side”, like killing 50 enemies on Nessus, other tasks take significantly longer and require repetitive, targeted farming. How can you complete these annoying tasks faster?
Trick for Alchemical Spore and Dawnlight Crystals
For most gift fragments, you need to collect standard resources like Data Mesh, Alchemical Dust, or Dawnlight Fragments (here is a farming method for that). Ideally, get a Ghost that shows you the planetary resources. It should take just a few minutes to collect the resources.
However, for the Hawthorne gift and the Failsafe gift, you need rare resources, namely 3 Alchemical Spores and 3 Dawnlight Crystals. You will receive these as well by farming the standard resources, but only with a low probability. It’s estimated to be around 1:15. This means you’ll need to collect an average of 45 Alchemical Dust to get the needed 3 Alchemical Spores.
With this trick, you can speed things up significantly: Only collect one Alchemical Spore or one Dawnlight Crystal at a time. Once you have the resource, place it in your vault. Pick it up again. Repeat this, and the task will be considered complete.
It counts as “collected once” when you pick up the Alchemical Spore or Dawnlight Crystal from the vault. Just open your character screen at the vault and then the inventory, and you can store items instead of dismantling them. This trick doesn’t work with standard resources, only with the rare resources.
Where can I find many Fanatics, Witches, Servitors, or Minotaurs?
Here you can find specific enemies frequently:
- Fanatics are the exploding Vex enemies: on Nessus during certain public events where you must defend the platforms against Vex, many of them spawn. Or go from “The Rift” to “The Infinite Forest” on Io. You will also find Fanatics there (see the video from minute 4)
- Witches: On Titan in the Siren’s Watch (near the spawn point in a cave) or in the Solarium. Also, in the “Savathun’s Song” strike, there are plenty of Witches.
- Minotaurs: You can find them on Io (in front of the Pyramidion entrance), on Nessus, and on Mercury. If you go to the artifact room on Nessus, a group of Vex frequently spawns near a Minotaur. Or play the same event on Nessus where there are also Fanatics.
- Servitors: You can find many Servitors fastest in “Ether Supply” events in the EDZ (or on other planets, like on Nessus at Exodus Black)
