Season 9 is starting soon in Destiny 2. We show you the highlights of the seasonal rank rewards in the Season of Dawn.
This is how the Season Pass works in Destiny 2: Since the launch of Shadowkeep, Bungie changed the way new content comes into the game. In Year 3, there will be no smaller DLCs, but instead thematic seasons.
Throughout the year, there will be four such seasons. Each comes with new activities, quests, weapons, gear, and a Season Pass. This pass is available for all “Destiny 2” players.
As a Season Pass holder, you will receive 100 seasonal ranks that you can progress through during the respective season. To do this, you essentially just need to do one thing: play Destiny 2 and earn XP. Bounties, strikes, weekly challenges – everything you do in Destiny 2 contributes to your progress.
Highlights to Unlock
What are the seasonal rank rewards? While every Guardian can benefit from the rank rewards in a season, Destiny distinguishes between two paths for rewards:
- The free track: This is free and does not require any content or expansions. You can find it in the upper half of the seasonal rank rewards.
- The premium track: Season Pass holders have access to the rewards in the lower half of the rank rewards, in addition to the upper row.
General rewards include upgrade modules and rare materials. There are also items such as engrams or glimmer. In addition to these rewards, there are also some real gems.
These are the highlights of the rank rewards: In addition to the standard stuff, these items await your unlocking:
- The new exotic scout rifle ‘Symmetry’ – This stylish weapon is available for Season Pass holders immediately at rank 1 and for everyone in the free reward track at rank 35. The scout replaces ‘Eriana’s Vow‘ as the seasonal exotic and is expected to bring important abilities.
- Two legendary weapons – A brand new rocket launcher and likely a scout or pulse rifle are available to everyone at levels 30 and 45, respectively.
- Seasonal armor sets. Legendary armor awaits to be worn by every Guardian class. At reward level 25, all Destiny players will have the complete set. For Season Pass holders, the complete set is available at level 1. Additionally, duplicates can be found spread across all ranks.
Season Pass holders can also look forward to these rewards:
- Universal armor ornaments – You can customize your Guardian with ornaments to match your armor. At rank 97, you will have all these cosmetics complete.
- Ornaments for seasonal weapons – cool skins are available for both legendary weapons as well as the new exotic scout.
- A new finisher – With this melee mechanic, you can deal with your enemies stylishly.
- An exotic ghost shell (level 90)
- An exotic emote (level 99)
- Boosters – Different boosters are spread across the entire premium track. This increases XP or catalyst progress, for example.
After the end of a season (March 2020), the old ranks will disappear, and with the next season, the game will start over. If your gaming time is limited, you can purchase progress towards the end of the season.
You can check out the complete seasonal rank rewards on the Bungie site.

How do I get the new Season Pass? To have access to all seasonal rank rewards, the Season Pass is required. This can be purchased in-game for 1,000 Silver. This is approximately 10 €.
Owners of the Collector’s Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition of Shadowkeep already have full access to all four seasons of Year 3. If you decide to purchase Shadowkeep in Season 9, you will also receive the current Season Pass.
Through Cross-Save, you also have access to the season passes. Bungie states that these can be shared between accounts. For all interested, here’s the Season Pass in the Season of the Immortals.
