Season 8 is slowly coming to an end, soon Season 9 – the Season of Dawn will start in Destiny 2 . We will show you what you can still do to start the upcoming season with a little boost.
When exactly does Season 9 start? In less than 2 weeks, the current Season 8 will end on December 10. Immediately after, the next, now 9th season – the Season of Dawn – will start with the Weekly Reset at 6:00 PM.
Bungie will finally present this on December 4 in a stream. What is already known about it, you can find out here: Destiny 2 will finally present Season 9 – Here’s what we already know about it
Boost for starting Season 9 – How you can prepare
If you have all the essential weapons, suitable armor pieces including mods, and the desired seasonal rewards from the current season, there is not much left for you to do in the last days of Season 8 – except just to have relaxed fun.
But if you are looking for a meaningful occupation, you can already make some preparations that will give you a little boost at the start of the new season.
Saving bounties might be worth it again: In the past, players used to hoard completed bounties to push their power level at the start of a new season, but Bungie has put a stop to this method some time ago.
However, it might still be worth saving completed bounties to turn them in on the first day of the new Season 9.
With the launch of Shadowkeep, Bungie introduced the seasonal artifact and a new Season Pass with a battle pass system. Here, saving completed bounties from Shaxx or Zavala could prove useful. Future seasons are expected to follow a similar pattern – with a new artifact and a fresh Season Pass.
However, the artifact in Season 8 was only unlocked at level 7 of the Season Pass. To use and level it, you need to reach a certain level in the battle pass system. To level up, you need XP – experience points.
The best source for this at the start of the season will likely be your saved bounties. If you turn them in at the start, you can gain several levels in the Season Pass. This way, you can earn some rewards right at the beginning of the season and unlock the artifact faster. Perhaps there is also a new exotic right at level 1, as in the case of Eriana’s Vow.
Collect the following resources diligently – it might be worth it: In Season 9, the max power level of your Guardians is likely to increase again.
So if there is a new soft and hard cap, you might be able to use a trick similar to the current Season 8 to level up your characters quickly, and with relatively little effort.
In the current season, this allowed players to level up from 750 to power level 900 in no time. This worked through Crucible or Vanguard tokens and sometimes even with the help of the Season Pass.
In short: Pushing the power level with these methods is a simple but costly affair. Therefore, it is important to collect the following resources:
- Vanguard and Crucible tokens
- Glimmer
- Weapon parts
- Planetary materials
You can then possibly use these in Season 9 to quickly and effortlessly climb some power levels.
How exactly this works in Season 8, you can read here: This is how you can quickly reach power level 900

Look for a replacement for the Recluse: This top weapon from Season 6 currently represents the best submachine gun for many and one of the best weapons in all of Destiny 2. However, this top gun will be nerfed with Season 9. More about this can be found here: Hard nerf for the next season – 2 top items will be affected
