Bungie has given insights into the upcoming expansion of Destiny 2: Renegades in a new video. The developers show that especially the known factions are getting a new coat of paint and the Vex now even have their own will.
What have I missed? On September 9, 2025, Bungie released a new, somewhat longer video with information about the upcoming expansion “Renegades”. As reported earlier this year, this will be an expansion heavily inspired by Star Wars.
Lightsabers, battle droids, and well-known factions from Destiny 2 receive the typical look of Star Wars, while the story developers remain narratively true. Bungie now showed what to expect in Renegades and how they are trying to strike a balance between cooperation and its new saga.
Vex have their own will and now wear leather jackets
What can you expect in Renegades? Especially extraordinary in Renegades is the design of the known factions, namely the Cabal, Vex, and Fallen. Their DNA remains the same, but their appearance has changed. Cabal look like gangsters, with golden jaws in their faces. The Fallen now cloak themselves in colorful robes while unscrewing small parts from captured ships.
And then there are the Vex. The deadly robots usually operate under their collective consciousness – in Renegades, this is no longer the case for a small group of outlaws. They now wear a kind of poncho/leather jacket and commit crimes – independently.
In addition, Bungie provided a small overview of the new content that will await you at launch:
- You must defend yourself against the Barant Empire (Cabal), which is aiming to expand – and not peacefully.
- The main story takes place on Mars.
- Players can visit a bar and wreak havoc in the three aforementioned syndicates (Cabal, Vex, and Fallen).
- To gain influence, you need to complete missions for the syndicates:
- Bounty hunts
- Smuggling
- Sabotage
- Renegades brings you new talents like Cabal Drop Pods, airstrikes, and new vehicles like the Walker.
- Invasions return: You can then ambush other players on their missions.
- A dungeon is also said to exist. It leads again to a temple facility of the Witness.
What does the community say about the video? Fans are especially fond of the new Vex, as their story is absurd yet cool. These Vex are a splinter faction of the army of Maya Sundaresh. They have freed themselves from her control and instead of vegetating boringly, they have formed a band of outlaws that plays poker and wears ponchos. The following can be heard on Reddit:

- “Playing poker with the Vex sounds like fun.”
- “If working for the Conductor is such a terrible experience that the only other option is crime.”

- “Please! I want to be friends with these Vex! I want to ask them about our boy Asher Mir and more about the Vexnet.”
