How Xur surprised the Guardians on PC and Xbox One: Some players were quite astonished when they visited Xur again on Tuesday, April 9, after the release of the Update 2.2.1.
Because there was a chance for them to get a weapon that is actually not available on their platforms yet.
This is the weapon in question: Specifically, it was the Wave Splitter – an exotic trace rifle that has been exclusive to PS4 since the release of the Forsaken expansion.

Actually, the weapon was supposed to remain exclusive to PlayStation at least until the upcoming autumn. Accordingly, its new proud owners on Xbox and PC were astonished.
How exactly could one get the weapon? Fans on PC and Xbox One apparently owe this weapon to a bug as well as a tweet from community manager dmg04.
Because after the update 2.2.1 was released, the community manager followed up with a patch note via Twitter that was forgotten in the official change log.
Since the update, there has been a chance at the mysterious exotic vendor to acquire Forsaken exotics when you buy a Destiny engram from him.
As Xur was available for nearly 40 minutes after the update and this notification until the following Weekly Reset, some players went and bought these engrams. Some Guardians on Xbox One and PC surprisingly received the Wave Splitter.
What happens to the weapon now on Xbox One and PC? Many fans were accordingly happy about the new firearm. At the same time, they wondered about its unexpected appearance and what will happen to this exotic weapon on PC and Xbox now.
Some speculated that the exclusivity was finally lifted. Others speculated it was a bug. Now, a statement from community manager Cozmo provided clarity.
As he explained in the official Bungie forum, it is a mistake and was not intended. The developers are already working on a fix. He did not mention a specific date for it.
However, players who now own the Wave Splitter on PC and Xbox will be able to use the weapon until the bug fix is released. Afterwards, the gun will remain in their inventory but cannot be used until it is added to the regular loot pool on these platforms in September 2019.
The exclusivity of the Wave Splitter will officially end in autumn 2019.
