In the PC beta of Destiny 2, Guardians can set foot on Io for the first time.
At the end of August, the “Destiny 2” beta for PC will start, which will have some improvements compared to the console beta, but also some new features. A new PvP map will be playable: Javelin-4. This was not available in the beta for PS4 and Xbox One.
Bungie has not revealed any information about Javelin-4 until yesterday. Because yesterday, a trailer for the “Destiny 2” beta on PC was released, in which the new map can be seen for a brief moment:
Javelin-4 is set on Io, a moon of Jupiter
This screenshot comes from the trailer:
In the background, Jupiter is clearly visible, which is why these four Guardians must be on Io. The landscape design also resembles previous screenshots of Io.
Io is a sulfur moon of Jupiter. Ikora Rey retreated there after the Cabal attack because Io is a “sacred place” for the Warlocks. This moon is the last place in the solar system that the Traveler touched before the Collapse. There is said to be plenty of mythology, lore, and secrets to be found here.
Youtuber MoreConsole received additional screenshots of Javelin-4 from Activision, which we are embedding here for you:
There isn’t much information to be gleaned from these pictures. Apparently, there will be both an indoor and outdoor area. It is not known what kind of building this is.
More information from the trailer
If you take a closer look at the new PC beta trailer, there are still some other interesting things to discover.
Here is a new sword in the picture. You can read information about the swords in Destiny 2 in the link:
A Warlock with armor from the New Monarchy:
A “Dead Orbit” weapon, probably an auto rifle:
In the background, you can see a SUROS rocket launcher with a nice design:
