If you perform great deeds in the Iron Banner of Destiny 2, you may be rewarded with a line from Reaper from Overwatch!
The Iron Banner is back in Destiny 2. Lord Saladin sends you into battle against other Guardians to crown the strongest!
Players have now noticed something curious: At least in the English version, a very amusing Easter egg from Blizzard’s Overwatch has slipped into the Iron Banner.
Only the best Guardians will be rewarded with the Easter egg
The Easter egg was found by a Guardian who had an amazing round. After his 20th kill in a row without dying, the medal “We are running out of medals” popped up, and Lord Saladin spoke these words to him:
“Die! Die! Die-*cough* Sorry I’ve been watching too many Iron Banner matches. What time is it? Shaxx? Shaxx, are you there? Can you get me a water? Stop yelling, it’s just a question. I’m not old!”
This line translated means:
“Die! Die! Die! *cough* Sorry, I’ve just watched too many Iron Banner matches. What time is it? Shaxx? Shaxx, are you there? Can you get me something to drink? Don’t yell at me, I’m just asking. No, I’m not old!”
Anyone who plays Overwatch in English will find the exclamation “Die! Die! Die!” particularly familiar. The bad guy Reaper says these three words when he activates his ultimate.
Fortunately, the Guardian captured this scene – for mortals, this challenge will likely be hard to replicate. Furthermore, chance plays a role. Even if you achieve this challenge several times, this line of text does not necessarily have to follow.

Lord Saladin is the Reaper
And there is one more similarity. The English voice of Lord Saladin is the same as that of Reaper in Overwatch, namely Keith Ferguson.
Embedding Easter eggs in games has a long tradition. Since Destiny 2 and Overwatch will run on the same launcher (battle.net) on PC and there is a strategic partnership between Bungie and Blizzard, such references are likely.
