First funny, now really disgusting. Starting tomorrow, an item in Destiny 2 will give players major goosebumps. After the weekly reset, players can pick up a hairy, eight-legged monster from Tess Eververse, which can even be ridden.
Destiny 2 is currently hitting Eververse with one hit after another. First, it was the emote Cat Ear Dance, which many players liked and was seen everywhere in the game.
Shortly after, one of the most celebrated community ornaments followed: the Honk Moon Mask. But Destiny 2 is now taking it a step further and introducing a truly disgusting “Stachelshreck”.
What is the “Stachelshreck”?: The “Stachelshreck” is a Sparrow, the rideable vehicle in Destiny 2. There are many different legendary and exotic Sparrows that you can acquire directly in Destiny 2 or purchase. They get you to your destination faster and look cool – or disgusting – at the same time.
Why the Sparrow is so cool: If you’re a fan of spiders, then this new Sparrow is definitely made for you. With its eight legs, chunky body, and spiky hair, you will make an impression not only on arachnophobes. But don’t be surprised if a few Guardians flee as soon as you turn the corner. Those riding the “Stachelshreck” bring horror on eight legs.
Last year, players could ride a frozen witch’s broom for the Halloween event in Destiny 2. But compared to the Stachelshreck, that was harmless.
Moving legs provide extra disgust: Just how disgusting the “Stachelshreck” is becomes apparent when it moves. Its legs move along, and when you accelerate, they sway back. Add to that the glowing green eyes and the two mouthparts that also light up. When it gets dark in Destiny 2, you should look around twice.
Available for Glimmer starting October 19, 2021
Players are already waiting for its availability and are eagerly looking forward to their new Sparrow.
As Holtzmann_YT said on Twitter, he will park his “Stachelshreck” right at the entrances of Lost Sectors just to scare other players. To which his follower amber vaughan replies: ‘That’s almost as bad as when I hunt down my arachnophobic friend over patrol areas!’
Also dmg04, one of the two community managers at Bungie, is gleeful about the players’ mischievous ideas. He responds to the photo with a sneering “Heh…. Heheheh….”
Destiny 2 has a parking problem: That Holtzmann_YT can even park his new Sparrow like that has only been possible recently. Earlier, Sparrows used to disappear after a while once you dismounted. But that is no longer the case.
Now players often pile up their Sparrows in front of NPC vendor locations. This could mean that you’ll come across several of these disgusting crawlers, all staring at you with their glowing eyes.
How to get the Sparrow “Stachelshreck”:
- “Stachelshreck” is only available during the Halloween event “Festival of the Lost”.
- So far, it was only available for 800 Silver from the Eververse shop.
- With the weekly reset on October 19, 2021, you can also claim the disgusting Sparrow for 2500 Glimmer from Eververse for one week.
No more Glimmer? A good source of Glimmer is the weekly challenges. There, Bungie provides several Glimmer packages for you once. Otherwise, use the additional bounties from Zavala, Lord Shaxx, and the Wanderer.
During the Halloween event, the additional bounties from Eva Levante are also a good source of Glimmer. You can repeatedly buy, complete, and farm additional bounties for Glimmer.
Will you stop by Tess tomorrow and grab the hairy “spider Sparrow”? Would you like to see more effects like this for your vehicles? We’re already sure that this Sparrow will not only scare aliens but also some Guardians.
