There are hints that the Hive deity Nokris is haunting the Guardians in Destiny 2.
The new enemy that the Guardians will face in Destiny 2 is called Ghaul. He is the commander of the Red Legion. These are units of the Cabal.
However, several hints have emerged in recent weeks and months indicating that the Hive could play a crucial role during Destiny 2: the opponent known as Nokris may be encountered by the Guardians.
Please note that the following information has not been officially confirmed. If true, they would be massive spoilers for the story of Destiny 2.
Who is Nokris?
Many Guardians will find the name “Nokris” to be little or nothing at all. He appears in Destiny at only one point: In the final story mission of “The Taken King” called The Taken King, you come across a place where two statues stand beside a gate:
These statues can be scanned with the Ghost: The right one is supposed to be Crota, the Ghost tells us. The symbols on the left statue, however, are unknown to him. They are said to represent a Hive god named Nokris. The Ghost doesn’t have any more information about that. By the way, behind the passage stands a statue of Oryx.
After this discovery, there was lively discussion in the Guardian community about who Nokris could be. It was highly speculated that he might be Crota’s brother – or possibly the wife of Oryx. The exact family relationships of the Hive gods and the hierarchies of this race are hard to decipher, even if one has fought through the Grimoire cards, especially the “Books of Sorrow”.
Is Nokris the father of Oryx – and does he also want to be killed?
Now there are hints about Nokris in Destiny 2. In a podcast of “RNGCast“, a developer who allegedly worked on the story of Destiny 2 speaks about this Hive deity.
Some Guardians doubt that this is really a “real” developer who can make reliable statements about Destiny 2. We did some research: The man’s name is Isaac Padilla, who according to his LinkedIn page is a content creator for various projects. He has been working for Blizzard Entertainment since May 2017 and could indeed have insider knowledge. But as mentioned, the following statements have not been officially confirmed.
According to Isaac Padilla, the King’s Fall in Destiny 2 has even greater significance for the story. Thus, we will encounter a Hive god whose grandson (Crota) and whose son (Oryx) we have killed. When directly asked if it was Nokris, he replied: Yes.
More information about Nokris is provided by Andy Edition in his video:
When will Nokris enter the game?
At the launch of Destiny 2, Ghaul is our opponent, that is certain. There seems to be no room for a Nokris. But Isaac Padilla gives another hint when asked when we will encounter Nokris: We don’t know anything about the Destiny 2 Rasputin expansion.
We already know the two logos for the two expansions: The first features the Osiris logo, while the second features the Rasputin logo. Now there are theories that Nokris might have his sights set on the Warmind – after all, Oryx and Crota have already shown with Omnigul that they want to and can break into the Rasputin bunker.
Interestingly, there is an observation regarding Bungie’s Twitter account: In mid-April, the developers posted two fan creations in quick succession. One image depicts Osiris, while the other depicts Nokris. It is rumored that this could be a hidden hint at the DLCs of Destiny 2:
Nokris:
Additionally: During the gameplay premiere, Hive Knights were shown in Destiny 2 that obviously have wings and a strange eye. Normally, the Knights have no wings, but three glowing green eyes:
Perhaps these Knights belong to Nokris?
Important: It is not clear how credible the information from Isaac Padilla actually is. It might just be wild fan theories that together form an exciting overall picture. Therefore, all this information should be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism.
So we ask you: What do you think about this? Would you be interested in defeating the grandfather after Crota and Crota’s father?
