Bungie comments on the missing faction weapons of Season 2 in Destiny 2. This is angering the guardians …
On January 16, the first faction rally of Season 2 started, where a variety of new rewards were supposed to be available. Bungie released an update before the launch so that all guardians – even those without the “Curse of Osiris” DLC – could access the new loot.
But when the rally went live, many guardians scratched their heads in confusion. They could open as many faction engrams as they wanted, but no new weapons dropped. They gathered on reddit and quickly found out: Yes, nobody is receiving new faction weapons!
Is there a bug here? Is this intentional by Bungie? It can’t be that there are no new faction weapons in the engrams?

Bungie’s official Twitter account announced: The new faction rally weapons introduced with the Curse of Osiris are currently not available in the faction engrams. They will be made available throughout Season 2.
Community Manager dmg04 explained in a detailed post:
With the Curse of Osiris, 5 new weapons per faction were introduced, which will be available gradually.
- In the first faction rally of Season 2 (right now) there is only the auto rifles as the winning weapon (one of them). No other new faction weapons can be earned.
- In the second faction rally of Season 2 there will be new winning weapons. Additionally, the current winning weapons (the auto rifles) will be thrown into the loot pool of the faction engrams along with another weapon. This means you can earn two of the new weapons per faction through engrams.
- In the third and final faction rally of Season 2 there will again be new winning weapons. The previous winning weapons will be added to the loot pool of the faction engrams along with another weapon. This means you can earn four of the five new faction weapons through faction engrams, and the fifth weapon is the winning weapon.
In the guardianship, the reactions to this design decision are unanimous: “What the hell?”
The community concludes that it is now absolutely pointless to participate in the faction rally. It is sufficient to play the last faction rally of the season. Because then you will finally have access to the new weapons – and the armor ornaments that can currently be earned can also be unlocked then.
The motivation to participate in the rally is therefore nearing zero. Social media is once again being flooded with negative comments towards Bungie.
Bungie apologizes
Another statement just came from Game Director Christopher Barrett. He apologizes: Yes, Bungie should have announced the new objectives for the weapon rewards in the faction rally before it returned. In his opinion, this would have avoided much confusion.
In the future, they will strive to communicate all changes to rewards before they go live.
