Destiny 2 had to disable four popular mods. This has caused some frustration, as many players can no longer use their builds. However, Bungie had a good reason for the deactivation: The mods were exploited for a glitch during the Solstice.
Which mods were disabled? The four disabled mod options are popular armor mods for the arms that boosted abilities in many builds. They typically help to strengthen the abilities of the Guardians. The deactivation was announced by Bungie on Twitter.
Currently, the following mods in Destiny 2 are no longer usable:
- Detonation Boost: Grants class ability energy when damage is dealt with a grenade.
- Impact Induction: Damage with melee attacks reduces grenade cooldown.
- Momentum Transfer: Damage with grenades reduces melee cooldown.
- Focus Attack: Grants class ability energy through damage with melee attacks.
Bungie does not explain in its Twitter posting why the mods were disabled. But it is very likely that the reason is a recently discovered glitch during the Solstice event.
Why were the mods disabled? The decision to disable the four mods was most likely made due to issues during the Solstice event. A relic glitch allowed players to unfairly influence the game.
- The glitch allowed players to infinitely recharge their melee and super abilities by quickly swapping armor pieces.
- This bypassed the event’s mechanics and accelerated progress during the event by allowing players to quickly obtain more silver leaves to improve their armors.
This was also the reason why the mod “Universal Kickstart” had to be disabled most recently. It has not been available since July 8 because it caused a similar issue.
How the mods were exploited is shown in this video by CheeseForever:
For players who were unaware and did not exploit the glitch, this decision is also bitter. They had built their builds and strategies around these mods and are now struggling to find alternative solutions that work just as well.
When will the mods be available again? It cannot be said at the moment. However, Bungie is already working to fix the issue and to reactivate the mods as quickly as possible.
To let you know when your builds are back up and running, we will update this article as soon as the mods are usable in the game again.
In the meantime, the Guardians need to adjust their builds and try alternative strategies.
What do you think of this measure? Do you believe it is an appropriate solution to ensure fair competition? Or are you upset that your build no longer works? Please share your thoughts in the comments.
