Some time ago, the toughest guy from Destiny 2, Lord Shaxx, sang about cheese and the moon. This was celebrated by many Guardians and brought some laughs. However, it seems that the whole thing was not really a joke and could potentially end quite badly.
What is the deal with the singing? In the context of the original quest for the exotic pistol “The Devil’s Ruin”, players had to visit the Crucible map “Dämmerbruch” among other tasks. While looking for broken Crucible practice robots, players could listen to the voices of Osiris, Saint-14, and Lord Shaxx.
And at the end, there was a real highlight. The cult character Shaxx sings – normally he’s a tough guy known for his witty remarks in the Crucible. Although Shaxx was more or less forced, he sings. About the moon made of cheese – all set to the rather dark theme of the Shadowkeep expansion.
This was celebrated at the time as a highlight of the quest. However, the funny singing interlude could have consequences – and indeed serious ones.
New dialogue casts fun singing interlude in a serious light
This is the dialogue in question: In the new dungeon Prophecy from the current Season 11, Twitter user Nemplays stumbled upon an interesting dialogue between Eris Morn, from whom Shaxx is supposed to know the song, and the Drifter – both important characters who will likely play a significant role in the upcoming Fall expansion Beyond Light.
Right there, Shaxx’s singing is suddenly cast in a completely different light.
What new information do we have? The Drifter addresses Eris, asking if she sang the song to Shaxx on the moon. After all, she is supposed to have that from her.
But apparently, she has not. And when she hums the melody for comparison, and the Drifter confirms that is exactly what he meant, she explains that it is a song of the Witch Savathûn.
What does this mean? Has Shaxx been flipped and is now a spy? Savathûn is a Witch Queen and the sister of Oryx, who will receive her own expansion as the main villain next year. She appears to have been pulling many strings behind the scenes, but is now slowly emerging and is being set up as the new main enemy of the Guardians.
Shaxx has heard a song that he should not know. Because Eris did not sing it to him. And it looks like the Witch has her fingers in this pie.
Because Shaxx behaves strangely. Above his position in the Tower, he has had a skull hanging for a long time (probably from a young Ahamkara), which he is supposed to remove at the request of Eris and the Drifter – and immediately. But he vehemently refuses – and without any apparent reason.
The skull could be the key point. After Savathûn has now announced herself, dark relics are awakening all over the solar system, apparently including this skull. This is what Eris seems to fear.
And this skull seems to have an impact on Shaxx and his behavior. How else would he know the song? Some therefore believe that Savathûn might have influenced Shaxx in this way and, through him or the skull, gain insights into the top command center of the Guardians.
Whether Shaxx has now possibly become a spy of the Witch Queen against his will and passively remains to be seen. However, the exciting storyline development of Season 11 continues, and numerous little snippets make us eager for more.
