In Destiny 2, the penultimate Iron Banner of Season 7 is coming up. In addition to event-specific loot, Lord Saladin also has some changes in store that should please many Guardians.
When does the next Iron Banner start? The August Iron Banner begins today, Tuesday, August 27, with the weekly reset at 7:00 PM. For one week, Guardians can let loose in this PvP event in the Crucible under the watchful eyes of the Iron Lord. The mode will likely be Control as usual. The August Iron Banner ends on September 3 at 7:00 PM.
What can players earn? Players can hunt for the Iron Banner armor from the Season of Opulence and snag themed Iron Banner weapons.
You will receive the weapons as random drops at the end of Iron Banner matches as well as from Lord Saladin’s reputation packages.
You will need to unlock the armor pieces through a quest first. Afterwards, these will also be available as random drops after the end of a match as well as from the Iron Lord’s reputation packages.
This time it’s different: With Season 7, the armor pieces must first be earned through a quest line before they become available from other sources as part of the Iron Banner. Some steps of this quest were, however, too tedious and grindy for many players. Bungie has thus made adjustments and alleviated some of the most frustrating steps – much to the delight of numerous Guardians.
Even though the changes have been in the game since Update 2.5.2 (July 30), they will take effect for the first time today. Because today marks the first Iron Banner since the implementation of the changes.
This will be different from today in the armor quest of the Iron Banner:
- The number of required grenade kills will be reduced by 50%.
- Additionally, grenade kills by allies will now count just as much as your own.
- The number of required sword kills will also be lowered.
- Moreover, sword kills by allies will now count just as much as your own.
What you should still consider: If you still need to reset your Valor rank for example for a top weapon quest, now is a good opportunity to push your rank in the Quick Play of PvP with the start of the Iron Banner.
During the Iron Banner, there will be increased Valor points – for the entire week.
Will there be another Iron Banner in Season 7? If you don’t complete the armor quest during the August Iron Banner, you will have another chance to complete your armor collection in Season 7.
Due to the delay of the Shadowkeep expansion from September 17 to October 1, 2019, the Season of Opulence has also been extended by two weeks. Bungie is also adding another Iron Banner from September 17 to September 24. This will be your last chance to earn the event-specific armors from this season.
