The Dreaming City is a new area in Destiny 2 that serves as the endgame zone of Forsaken. After completing the story campaign, you will frequently find yourself in this location – as the new raid is also located in the heart of the Dreaming City.
However, the Dreaming City is not directly unlocked at the start. You must first prove yourself worthy to gain entry. To do this, you need an Awakened Talisman.

How to get into the Dreaming City with the Talisman – Guide
Here’s how:
Step 1: Complete the story campaign. Then go to Petra Venj in the Tangled Shore, where she will give you a broken Awakened Talisman. She tells you that this Talisman is the key to the Dreaming City. However, you must repair it. You will receive the milestone “Beyond the Watchtower.”
Step 2: Go to Spider right next door, who will help you repair the Talisman. He gives you the task to find Talisman fragments in Lost Sectors. Which sectors these are will not be marked on the map. You will only receive these hints in the inventory overview:
- In an old pirate hideout
- In the heart of Spiders’ web
- At a rare green location

Step 3: After you have looted the chests in the three sectors, return to Spider. He will now let you defeat Taken, so the Talisman can absorb Darkness. You can find plenty of Taken in the Shattered Throne strike in the EDZ or on Io in a Lost Sector right by the landing zone, which you can repeatedly complete.
Step 4: Go back to Spider in the Tangled Shore, who will let you play a public event. It is the Aether Ritual in the “Fourhorns Gorge” in the Tangled Shore. In the link you will learn how to complete the event heroically. However, for the quest, you probably only need to finish the normal event. You can still shoot down a few Aether clouds.
Step 5: Return to Spider and then into a new story mission with a recommended power of 500. During this mission, you will enter the Dreaming City. Follow the quest until you encounter Petra Venj. From then on, you will have permanent access to the Dreaming City.
Upon completing this mission, there may be rewards above the soft cap of 500. Therefore, it is advisable to play the mission only then.
