Destiny 2 introduced a new surfboard called the Xûrfboard before the release of Episode: Revenant. However, Bungie has not yet explained how you can get the new board. We will show you what you need to do.
What is the difference between Sparrow and Surfboard? In Destiny 2, there are two modes of transportation for your Guardian: the Sparrow and the Surfboard. While the Sparrow has been available since the release of Destiny 1, the Skimmer was only added in the Guardian Games 2024.
The Sparrow is a normal futuristic, hovering vehicle that lets you get from point A to point B. Usually, the Sparrows offer nothing except for some minor perks that make traveling easier for you. The Skimmer, on the other hand, is more mobile, nimble, and lets you even traverse impassable areas with the grindrail.
For this reason, the surfboards are very popular among Guardians. So far, there have only been two specimens – one from the Guardian Games and the other from the Eververse shop. However, on October 11, another specimen will be added: the new Xûrfboard. If you don’t have a board yet, you should definitely get this surfboard. We will show you how.
Xûrfboard needs a bit of grind
What do I have to do for the Xûrfboard? If we believe the information from light.gg, there will be no quest for the Xûrfboard. Instead, you will be sent on the hunt for Strange Coins
because the board is really expensive. You will need a total of 97 coins to acquire the vehicle from Xûr.
You get between 4 and 5 Strange Coins from normal activities, so you will have to run several rounds of Strikes, Gambit, or Crucible to reach the number.
When and where does Xûr appear? Xûr always appears on Friday at 7 PM and then disappears on Tuesday at 7 PM. You can find him in the Tower next to the noodle restaurant, near Ikora.
Which activities yield Strange Coins quickly? Strikes are the most worthwhile for the grind, as you cannot lose these and usually receive a fixed number. For this, choose Strikes that can be completed quickly. The Devil’s Lair is suitable for this and can even be finished in less than 4 minutes.
If you want to add some spice to your grind and farm new weapons, you might want to try Gambit. Fatebringer
, one of the most popular pulse rifles from the Drifter’s arsenal, is back and you can focus the weapon with accumulated Gambit engrams.
We wouldn’t recommend Crucible, as this mode is much more difficult to win compared to Gambit if you’re unlucky with the opponents. In Gambit, you can also lose quickly, but in Crucible, it’s less predictable, as it depends on the map, teammates, the mode, and the current meta.
That was all the information on how you can get the new Xûrfboard. If the grind for the new surfboard changes, we will update our article accordingly and add more information. What do you think of the board? Will you go for it or ignore it? Let us know in the comments. More on Destiny 2 can be found here: The silliest exo in Destiny 2 can now be made even uglier for 6 €
