Those who wanted to farm public events in Destiny 1 needed external tools for that. In the game itself, neither the location nor the exact timing of public events could be determined.
Destiny 2 is much more convenient in this regard. The overview map shows you where and when the events take place.
Public Events in Destiny 2 – Heroic Mode, Loot
For completing public events, you will receive rewards in the form of rare and legendary engrams and other consumables. In very rare cases, you can even get exotic engrams from public events.
To receive rewards, you don’t even have to successfully complete the events. Depending on your progress, the quality of the rewards increases.
The best gear is available if you manage to complete the events heroically.
However, the heroic events are not served to you on a silver platter. You must meet certain requirements to have a chance at the best loot. We will show you how to successfully complete all public events heroically!
Destiny 2 Public Event Heroic: The Fallen’s Glimmer Extraction
The Fallen want to extract glimmer, and your task is to prevent this. Specifically, the extraction must be stopped at three locations. For this, three marked enemies must be eliminated.
- Location: EDZ on Earth and Nessus
- Heroic Mode: To trigger heroic mode, you need to destroy some of the Fallen’s devices that appear around the combat area. You can recognize them by the damage they take when the devices are targeted. The generators must be destroyed before you focus on the marked targets.
- Heroic Phase: In the heroic phase, you will try to become a glimmer hoarder. You will stand on a mountain of glimmer and must protect it from the Fallen.
Destiny 2 Public Event Heroic: The Fallen’s Ether Extraction – The Servitor
Once again, the Fallen want to engage in their dirty business. In this event, you will face a monstrous Servitor, which annoyingly has the property of teleporting you around, making orientation difficult. You may also spawn at a height of 100 meters – watch out for the fall.
- Location: The EDZ and on Nessus
- Heroic Mode: If you want to trigger heroic mode, you should immediately deal with the little Servitors that spawn after a short time and protect their big brother. You need to be quick since the little Servitors will disappear after a short while.
- Heroic Phase: In the heroic phase, the big Servitor and the small ones become stronger.
Destiny 2 Public Event Heroic: The Fallen Walker – Take 2
The well-known Fallen Walker is back. In this event, you need to destroy the legs of the Walker to expose a weak point that allows you to take it down faster.
- Location: The EDZ and Titan
- Heroic Mode: Focus on the three domes that surround the combat arena. When you destroy a leg of the Walker, it collapses and drops three Arc orbs, which you need to place in the holders of the three domes (two each). There is a danger that the Walker will be defeated too quickly before you have deactivated all the domes. Take it slow!
- Heroic Phase: Once all three domes are deactivated, you can really heat things up with damage dealing weapons. To spice things up further, a second Walker will appear, which can be destroyed quite quickly thanks to the cannons.
Destiny 2 Public Event Heroic: The Witches Duo of the Hive
To defeat the witches, you need to disable their shields. This can be done by standing in the designated circles. After the two witches have passed away, a boss will appear.
- Location: On Titan
- Heroic Mode: After the death of both witches, you must stand in the circle and shoot at the crystals next to the witch portal. Focus on one crystal first to have more time with the second crystal.
- Heroic Phase: Once you have destroyed both crystals, a Knight will spawn. Destroy it to complete the heroic mode.
Destiny 2 Public Event Heroic: The Vex Conflux – The “Glass Chamber Memory Event”
In essence, this event is already known from the predecessor. Prevent the Vex from sacrificing themselves at a conflux. Up to ten Vex may do this at most; otherwise, the event is lost. This event is a chaotic mess. Make sure that not too many Vex sacrifice themselves.
- Location: Nessus and Io
- Heroic Mode: Three platforms must be captured while the Vex want to sacrifice themselves at the conflux. From the conflux, three beams lead to the nearby platforms, so you can’t miss them. Watch out for the fanatics that will attack you and blow themselves up nearby.
- Heroic Phase: Once you have captured all platforms 100%, a powerful Hydra will appear. Take care of it.
Destiny 2 Public Event Heroic: The Possessed – The Cult Around a Sphere
A large sphere of the possessed must be weakened. For this, you need to eliminate the possessed that are in the vicinity of the sphere.
- Location: The EDZ and on Io
- Heroic Mode: For the loot of the heroic variant, you need to get a buff in a smaller sphere and shoot at the large sphere.
- Heroic Phase: Once the large sphere is destroyed, a boss will appear. Take it down.
Destiny 2 Public Event Heroic: The Cabal Excavations
The Cabal are tapping into our planet. To stop the drilling, you need to position yourself around the drill. At the same time, you will be attacked by Cabal, and laser beams will rain down from the sky.
- Location: The EDZ and on Io
- Heroic Mode: For the heroic mode, you need to shoot down a ship that is patrolling above the event.
- Heroic Phase: Kill the boss that appears afterward to successfully complete the event.
Destiny 2 Public Event Heroic: The Cabal Psions
The Cabal are once again wreaking havoc on the ground. This time with a gigantic machine that is protected by a dome. You won’t deal any damage from outside the dome.
- Location: The EDZ and Nessus
- Heroic Mode: If you want to play the hero and trigger the heroic variant, you must shoot at the opening valves after each Psion. These shine orange and take damage when you shoot at them. Note that these valves are only open for a short time. Additionally, you take damage if you shoot at the valves, as you must stay in a dome whose ground is burning.
- Heroic Phase: Once all valves are destroyed, a tough boss will appear. Hit hard, the guy can take quite a bit.
