When Destiny was introduced years ago, the public was presented with a gameplay trailer that showed a public event. However, no one could really understand how this would unfold, what the co-op aspect would look like, how other Guardians could join in on this event, or what Destiny would actually become.
By now, we know what kind of game Destiny is. This was also recently stated by Community Manager DeeJ. For Destiny 2, new things will be shown, but the public can now better categorize this. In contrast, everything that was shown for Destiny 1 raised questions. Until the release, no one could quite articulate what Destiny would actually be.

What new content and game modes will come and what endgame content there will be is still unknown. A statement from Activision suggests that patrols will be replaced by a more exciting quest system. A vibrant open world opens up many possibilities for new activities. And how the PvP situation will be handled remains exciting.
