How does the journey in Destiny 2 actually begin?

Each of us remembers the first hours in Destiny 1: We are found by our Ghost and revived, then we immediately have to face the first dangers, we grab a jump ship and off we go to new worlds.

How does Destiny 2 start? Presumably, there will first be a cinematic showing how the Cabal destroy the Last City and all our stuff. And then?

We know that Zavala is gathering the troops outside the city while Cayde-6 and Ikora Rey are still inside the city. Many Guardians wished back in Destiny 1 that they could freely explore the Last City. Perhaps Destiny 2 begins amidst the destroyed ruins of the city. Or outside the city with Zavala. Or somewhere else entirely.

It also raises the question of what equipment you start with. Alright, all weapons and armor pieces will be destroyed — even those we wear. But we won’t be starting the journey completely naked.

It’s unlikely we will see the beginning minutes of Destiny 2 during the gameplay reveal. We will probably only get an answer during the release on September 8th or at the start of the beta.
