In the run-up to the upcoming Warmind expansion for Destiny 2, a lot of new information about upcoming content of the 2nd DLC has been revealed. There are also many concrete details about new features of the Warmind DLC. We summarize all the important innovations and facts for you.
Many Guardians are eagerly awaiting the next expansion for Destiny 2. Some long for fresh PvE activities and new loot, while others wish for more long-term motivation and more exciting battles in the Crucible.

When is the release of the Warmind DLC? The official release date for the 2nd expansion is May 8, 2018. Then the 2nd DLC will be released simultaneously for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

These are the new features of DLC 2 “Warmind”
The biggest driving force in the Destiny series is the hunt for loot for many fans. Accordingly, expectations are high that the Warmind expansion will shine here with exciting new gear.
What new loot can the Guardians hunt?
The upcoming expansion brings again a lot of new, thematically inspired weapons, armor, and other items that are waiting to be found by you.

New exotics are also on board. 12 new exotic armor pieces will join the game with the Warmind DLC. New exotic weapons are also included. So far, three are known.

Apparently, fans who loved collecting dead ghost shells, classified fragments, and inactive SIVA bundles in Destiny 1 have also been considered. With the Warmind DLC, new collectibles – i.e., collectible items – come into play. If the display on the map of the new location is to be believed, there will be 45 collectibles on Mars with the new expansion.
What new features can Guardians expect in PvE?
PvE lovers finally get fresh content again. A new setting called Hellas Basin is waiting for players on the ice caps of Mars, ready to be explored.
The explorable part of the location has 2 landing zones and is about the size of Titan – mind you, without the strike and mission locations.
New story missions and adventures await fans in the new location. There are also two new strikes:
- Will of the Thousands: In this strike, it is about preventing an attack on Rasputin’s neural network and defeating a monstrous enemy with the help of the Valkyrie spear.
- Strange Terrain: In this strike, you will fight deep in the tunnels beneath Hellas Basin against the Messenger of Xol. Stop the Taken Prince before he can grant more power to the Worm God.

Was the PvE too easy for you so far? With the Warmind expansion, a new, challenging ritual activity has been added – the Escalation Protocol. Raid fans also won’t miss out: another highlight of the second expansion is the new Raid wing – the Astral Alignment. All Guardians who feared Bungie might postpone the planned new raid wing to fall 2018 can breathe a sigh of relief. The second and final wing, Astral Alignment for the Leviathan raid, is a fixed part of the Warmind DLC as planned.

What’s new for PvP fans?
Do you want private Crucible matches? In PvP, players will finally gain access to private match arenas with the release of the Warmind DLC.

Do you wish for more long-term motivation in PvP? With DLC II, a seasonal Crucible ranking will be introduced.
This will also include a new legendary pulse rifle called Redrix’s Claymore, which can only be earned in the Glory ranking for the Competitive playlist. This weapon is already causing controversy, although it hasn’t even been released yet.
Moreover, matchmaking will finally take more account of solo players: In PvP, going solo against teams? That’s unfair! This is how Destiny 2 wants to change it.
Additionally, 2 new Crucible maps will be introduced with the second expansion: 2 new Crucible maps.
Are there again PS4-exclusive contents?
As usual, PS4 Guardians will receive some time-exclusive in-game content again with the Warmind expansion.
There will be an exclusive third strike called Insight Terminus, in which Zavala sends you back to Nessus, where you will fight against a Psion Commander and other Cabal in a Vex site. There will also be time-exclusive armor sets for all three classes on PS4.
When will these exclusive contents be released on Xbox One and PC? When the time-exclusive content will be released for the other platforms is not yet known.
Are there any other innovations?
With Warmind, you will be able to level your character up to level 30. The previous maximum power level will also increase with the 2nd expansion. Thus, the new power level cap with modifications is now 385. Without mods, you can only raise the power level to 380: Destiny 2 will make you work hard for the new maximum level in the future.
At the same time, Destiny 2 closes a 4-year-old loot loophole for power gamers, which allowed players to reach the highest level faster.
Additionally, PvE will be harder with the release of DLC II: Destiny 2 is increasing the difficulty level – PvE will become more challenging.
With the Warmind DLC, many exotic weapons will also be completely reworked. Some of them you can already experience in action before May 8.

Furthermore, the following minor features will be added to Destiny 2 on May 8:
- The vault capacity will increase to 300
- Items can be deleted directly in the vault or in the post
- Quest items will receive their own tab and will no longer take up inventory space
- A multi-emote function is coming
- Seasonal progression with merchants will be introduced
- Modifiers for Heroic Strikes
- Nightfall challenge cards
- The Eververse will be revamped
