To Destiny 2, the contents of the beta are known. However, not all, as the testing phase will provide secret content to discover.
You weren’t at the gameplay premiere or at E3 to experience Destiny 2 early? Then you are like most Guardians out there. However, you won’t have to wait until September to get your hands on the upcoming MMO shooter.
Because in just one month – mid-July – the beta phase begins. Pre-order customers will receive early access, but just a few days later, all interested parties can join the open beta. Here are the important dates:
- On July 18, the PS4 players with early access will start.
- On July 19, Xbox players with early access will join.
- On July 21, the gates will open for all players on PS4 and Xbox One. The open beta ends on July 23.
- PC players will receive their beta at the end of August.
What does the beta content look like?
In an interview on Youtube Live, Game Director Luke Smith and Project Lead Mark Noseworthy talked about the contents of the beta. Basically, this testing phase should provide players with an “extended E3” experience and allow developers to review the infrastructure, backend, and data centers to ensure that nothing stands in the way of a successful launch.
You can play these activities:
- Homecoming – A story mission right at the beginning of Destiny 2, where you must defend the Tower against the attack of the Cabal. “Homecoming” has already been presented here.
- Inverted Spire – A strike in Destiny 2, located on the planet Nessus. You can watch the full strike here.
- PvP – You can also play PvP. It is expected that the “Countdown” mode will be available, which was also playable at the preview events. All info in the link.

Additionally:
- All three new subclasses (Dawnblade, Arcstrider, Sentinel) will be playable in the beta (Yes, also the Titan).
- Overall, you can choose between six Guardian subclasses in the beta.
- There will be even more included in the beta – a few secrets for you to discover.
