This week, you can complete the exotic quest from the mission “The Zero Hour” in Destiny 2. We will explain how the “Solar Configuration” works and show you the reward for this quest line.
About this quest: Since May 7, you can earn a new exotic weapon in Destiny 2 – the Perfected Execution. You can also already grab and level the corresponding exotic masterwork catalyst.
The weapon and its catalyst are tied to an exotic quest line that culminates in the completion mission “The Zero Hour”. If you succeed in this mission, you will receive the weapon and the catalyst. Furthermore, you will unlock a heroic version of the mission.
There, you can also earn additional progress for the “Execution” catalyst. There is also another exotic quest. It consists of three parts and rewards you with an exotic ship at the end.
After successfully completing the steps Empty Configuration and Arc Configuration, this week it’s time for the final quest step – the Solar Configuration.

The Solar Configuration – How to complete the final quest step
What should you consider for the Solar Configuration? In principle, not much has changed compared to the Empty and Arc Configurations. Besides the flammable plates in front of the vault room and a new sequence that needs to be read and entered, everything remains the same.
For the Solar Configuration, you also need to find the three key cards and earn 49x SIVA fragments in the heroic version of “The Zero Hour”. You must accomplish all of this in one run; otherwise, you will be forced to restart this step.
You can easily use this guide for the Empty Configuration until the vault room: Fans crack the mega puzzle – here’s how the Empty Configuration works
Then, proceed as follows:
Changes in the Solar Configuration
The pressure plates in front of the vault room: The flammable plates on the ground in front of the vault room must now be activated in a different order. You can see them in this picture:
Keep in mind: You can disable the plates for a certain time when you use the switch on the left around the corner after completing the plates. This way, latecomers can easily pass through as long as they don’t fall too far behind.
The sequences at the terminals and consoles: After the plates, you will finally be in the vault room, where the actual work awaits you.
You must read a certain sequence at terminals, match it with a table, and then direct the runner to the correct console – a total of 49 times. The process itself is identical to the other configurations. Only the respective sequences are different in the Solar Configuration.
How to complete the Solar Configuration
Due to the complexity of this phase, we will explain it in detail here.
The initial situation: The layout of the vault room has not changed in the final step. Important for you are the three terminals in the main room as well as the seven side rooms with seven consoles in each room.
The side rooms are all color-coded for clarification and numbered as shown in the following image. The layout of these rooms is always the same.
Please organize yourselves as follows:
- One player continuously mans Terminal 1,
- another is at Terminal 2.
- The third and final guardian is the runner responsible for the consoles.
Terminal 3 can, as before, essentially be neglected.
Reading the sequences: Now activate Terminal 1. You will see two blue circles with 12 segments each. One segment on each circle is highlighted.
Read the numbers of the highlighted segments from left to right and remember the number pair. This will be important shortly.
This is how you solve the Solar Configuration: You must match the number pair in this table.
- Find your number combination (Column C1).
- Then move left to the Terminal column in row one.
- There you will read the room (color) and the console (number) that your runner now needs to activate.
Once he does that, you can interact again with Terminal 1 and start the next sequence. Repeat this a total of 49 times until all consoles have been activated in the correct order. Then the puzzle of the Solar Configuration is solved. The mission itself does not need to be completed for that.
By the way, don’t let the ticking mission timer scare you. It continually runs, but for each successful console activation you earn extra time.

What does the Guardian do at Terminal 2? You will only need this in some cases as a sort of backup. It may happen that a number combination from Terminal 1 appears multiple times in the table. This gives you multiple rooms and different consoles to choose from.
- If this happens, the player at Terminal 2 must read their numbers and match them with the column C2 behind the number combination for Terminal 1.
- If the numbers from T1 and T2 match in this row, you then move left to the Terminal column.
- There you can see which room and which console your runner needs to visit and activate.
This reward is given upon completing the entire quest line: If you have previously mastered the Empty Configuration as well as the Arc Configuration and now also cracked the Solar puzzle, then you have completed the repair plans and will receive the exotic ship Old Metal CF-717-91.
Additionally, you will get 67x SIVA fragments and an extra 13% for the Execution’s masterwork catalyst.
Thus, diligent Guardians can completely level up the catalyst of the new pulse rifle this week and enjoy the weapon in its full strength.
What do you think of the reward? Do you think it is worth the effort?
