Destiny 2 uses the extended Season 7 and wants to prepare the Guardians with a Community Challenge for the Shadowkeep expansion and the fight against the Hive.
What is the challenge about? Since the Shadowkeep expansion for Destiny 2 was postponed from September 17 to October 1, 2019, the Season 7 has also been extended by two weeks.
Bungie wants to use this extra time until the release of Shadowkeep to get the community in (combat) shape before it heads to the Moon. They want to do this in the form of a Community Challenge, a new challenge for the Guardians.
When exactly does the challenge run? This challenge starts on September 3 and is active until September 10.
What is the challenge about? Since in Shadowkeep players will fight against the Hive, the upcoming challenge will also revolve around the Hive – specifically on Mars. So you should get ready for this hostile race.
These are the exact tasks: In the challenge, the community has to tackle the following challenges:
- Defeat 175,000 Escalation Protocol bosses of wave 7
- Defeat 300 million Hive enemies on Mars
- Defeat 150,000x Nokris in the corresponding Mars Nightfall (Strange Terrain)
- Defeat 100,000x Xol in the corresponding Mars Nightfall (Will of the Thousands)
- Use 300,000 Override Frequencies
And this is the reward: To make the hunt worthwhile, there is a special reward. If all the goals of the Mars Challenge are achieved, all Guardians who successfully completed at least one Nightfall strike during the respective period will receive a special emblem.
This bonus is on top: If all challenge goals are fulfilled, the Cabal Emperor Calus will also show more generosity in the Menagerie. This means there will be additional rewards for successful Menagerie completions.
Once the community goals are reached, there will be a second prize from each boss chest at the end of the Menagerie. Every Friday until the end of Season 7, an additional prize will be added.
