In a few days, the new season of Destiny 2: Ash & Iron begins. With it, Guardians return once again to the iconic location of the Plaguelands. A trailer has already been released showcasing the new content, but fans are not satisfied.
What does Ash & Iron bring? With Ash & Iron, Bungie has prepared a season that takes you back to the Plaguelands. Veterans know the place, as it goes back to the Plaguelands, where SIVA wreaked havoc in Destiny 1.
This season is meant to entertain you until you can try out the new story expansion for Destiny 2 with Renegades. A trailer for Ash & Iron was recently uploaded, showing you what to expect, but if you look at the fans’ comments, you won’t be particularly pleased.
Fans prefer other games of the season
What content comes with the new season? To bring you up to speed, here’s what you can expect:
- An activity in the Plaguelands
- Dungeon Lairs – Activity at the Pinnacles Ops
- Warsat Heist – New exotic mission
- “Call to Arms” event
- New weapons
- Axe as a new weapon (maybe new Exo?)
What are fans saying about the new season? They are mostly disappointed. Much of what made the Plaguelands unique is missing. This is very disappointing for many. Fans were expecting a return to the Plaguelands, but not in the stripped format that Ash & Iron presents. The location does not represent a destination, but rather an activity.
SIVA as an antagonist is also absent, but according to the trailer, it’s the Cabal and Vex – there’s also no trace of the Fallen Splicers. It is to be assumed that Maya Sundaresh has her hands in the game again. Some have also hoped that Bungie would surprise everyone by bringing the raid “Wrath of the Machine” from Destiny 1 into its successor, but that is also missing.
The majority of the comments on YouTube find the season unappealing:
- “Back in the Plaguelands and we’re not even fighting the Splicers…” – @Lorentz_Driver
- “This makes me want to keep Destiny uninstalled.” – @TheGrandeScoop
- “‘New activity’ means that the Plaguelands aren’t really lasting.” – @LowKeyJaded
- “So we return to the Plaguelands only to deal with the forces of a mediocre villain instead of something cool like SIVA.” – @cherryshark9170
- “Honestly, where’s the hype in the trailers? Did the editor get fed up with the game? Usually, the trailers try to announce the next season and provide a reason to play, but all I see is a plagued land without SIVA, recycled dungeons, no interesting weapons…” – @adearest007
