In Destiny 2 the beta includes more content than previously known. Additionally, all beta participants will receive a reward.
There is new information regarding the Destiny 2 beta. The “This Week at Bungie” outlines the gameplay content and rewards for this test phase, which will be available from July 21 to July 23 for all PS4 and “Xbox One” players. The PC beta will start later in August.

Destiny 2 Beta – Reward – An Emblem for All Participants
If you participate in the beta, you will receive this beautiful emblem in September, at the launch of Destiny 2:
In Destiny 2, the emblems not only influence your “nameplate,” which is visible to all Guardians in the orbit, but also the design of your character menu. At the top of the screen, the entire menu bar will take on the design of the emblem:
You can only obtain the embedded emblem above by participating in the beta. You won’t be able to acquire it later.
The Contents of the Destiny 2 Beta
Already during E3, the developers revealed that the beta will feature the story mission “Homecoming,” the strike “The Inverted Spire,” and PvP. Now there are more details about the contents:
- Homecoming: The first story mission of the Destiny 2 campaign. It includes numerous cutscenes and has already been seen in gameplay material.
- The Inverted Spire: A strike where you must fight against the Vex on the planetoid Nessus. This strike is already known. You can play it with two friends or via matchmaking.
- Countdown: A new objective-based PvP mode that has also been shown at preview events. You need to plant bombs in the enemy’s base. Each round, the attacker and defender roles switch. You will play on a map designed for this mode. (This should be “Midtown”).
- Control: The Control mode returns! However, this mode will have some significant, yet unknown changes. You will play this mode on a new, also unknown map.
- New Subclasses: In the beta, you can play the three new focuses: The Dawnblade of the Warlock, the Arcstrider of the Hunter and the Sentinel of the Titan.
- The Farm: The new social space, the Farm, will go live for an hour during the beta. The date is July 23 at 7 PM our time. Find more information about the Farm here. During the beta, many vendors and services will still be offline.
What will be missing in the beta:
- Clan Support. The clan feature will only be available at the launch of Destiny 2.
- Character Progression: You will receive rewards for defeating enemies. However, the beta does not represent how character progression will work in Destiny 2.
- Nothing achieved in the beta will carry over to the main game. The launch of Destiny 2 is a fresh start. You will only receive the badge presented above for your participation.
