In Destiny 2, there was a major leak regarding Season 21. The leak supposedly occurred because a Twitch streamer divulged confidential information from a private meeting. Screenshots were posted on a Discord server that were under a strict NDA. The streamer and YouTuber Ekuegan was permanently banned from Destiny 2. He claims he is innocent, suggesting someone set him up.
This was the leak:
- Bungie invited “creators and other members of the community” to a confidential meeting to discuss the future of Destiny.
- However, from this confidential context, secret information leaked to the public. It concerns Season 21 – for instance, new weapons from Season 21 are surfacing online.
- A presentation with photos and information was spread over Discord.

Who is involved? As revealed by Forbes, the “suspect” is Twitch streamer and YouTuber Ekuegan, who is known for completing 6,000 Grandmaster Nightfall runs.
He is regarded as an exceptionally strong player in PvE.
Bungie bans streamer and halts all collaborations
How does the streamer respond: He claims he was invited to the meeting as a “high-skill PvE player”. However, he is not the leaker.
Nonetheless, he is now banned from Destiny 2 and Bungie will no longer collaborate with him. However, Bungie will not sue him for breaching the confidentiality agreement, considering the matter “closed”.
The streamer says:
I have signed so many non-disclosure agreements. Why would I break any? It’s part of my job. I have played for 14,000 hours, spending so many hours getting people to Grandmaster.
Desktop icons purportedly revealed the streamer – he denies everything
How was he caught? The streamer tells Forbes that Bungie informed him that they identified him based on the icons on his desktop.
The streamer suspects someone could have intentionally set this up to frame him and present him as a scapegoat. He does not know the Discord user from whom the leaks originated. He swears he never took any pictures.

How does Bungie respond? Bungie has spoken of a breach of trust in their statements. They express disappointment and threaten to restrict such events in the future.
The community manager refers to a “breach of trust that hurts.” They do not want to punish people, but feel they have no other choice.
At one point, their statement almost sounds like a mafia threat: Community manager Liana Ruppert says she sees so many creators “losing their brands” because of a single decision. Confidentiality agreements must be respected.
They advise against showing confidential information to anyone, no friends, no one, no matter how much you trust them. Yet Bungie wants content creators to succeed.
It sounds a bit like: “You have such a nice career – it would be a shame if it were ruined.”
“Why would I do that?”
What’s behind this: In fact, there is a complete lack of motive. The YouTuber gains absolutely nothing from leaking confidential information on a Discord server anonymously – this gives him no advantage. He does not gain views, money, nothing, but carries the risk of making himself impossible as a partner for all gaming companies, not just Bungie.
