Currently, many Guardians in Destiny 2 want to uncover a new secret about a cat statue. What is it all about?
Where is this cat statue: In the European Airzone, the new activity of the summer event, there is a hidden room where a cat statue was found. You can reach it by jumping left from the spawn point onto a rocky ledge that is located at the bottom of the wall. From there, you enter a cave – until a grate blocks your way.
This video shows you the exact way there:
Some Guardians have already managed to glitch behind the grate with a Sparrow. And there stands a strange cat statue:
What is the cat statue doing here?
What purpose does this cat statue serve? Guardians have already tried many things with the cat, but have not found a way to interact with it. It cannot be moved nor can you offer it a gift.
Because such cat statues are usually known from the Dreaming City. And these enjoy a small gift that smells like mint.
In other words: No one knows what this cat statue is doing in the European Airzone. Also, there is nothing else in the secret room to interact with.
Cat is a hot topic at raidsecrets
This is driving Guardians crazy: For days, there has been discussion in the raidsecrets subreddit about this statue. It is one of the top topics that thousands of Guardians are passionately debating.
The raidsecrets is a section in the reddit forum where players chase all kinds of secrets and puzzles. Guardians also team up here when searching for hidden things in new areas.

One of the latest theories about the cat statue was that something could happen with the statue when the 3rd Curse Week of the Dreaming City is reached. And we have been in this 3rd Curse Week since Tuesday evening.
But even this theory has fizzled out. In the last 2 days, various attempts were made again, but nothing has changed about the cat statue.
Opinions are clearly divided on what the cat could mean. Some are increasingly sure that Bungie is just having fun and is now enjoying watching Guardians fervently search for a meaning.
Others continue to explore the secret room. One user noticed that the wall behind the cat is strangely designed. It looks like there are two rows of bricks:
- The front wall is destroyed, only a few bricks are left stacked.
- The back wall is still intact and has a different color and design than the front, destroyed wall. And this wall design has been used before to separate areas that should be accessed later, like the area in the Tower where Ada from the Black Armory is now standing.
It is suspected that Bungie will remove this back wall at a later date – possibly as part of an Exotic Quest – and then the front wall will give the impression that a wall has been broken through.
Additionally, an unnamed key has been found in the databases that is associated with the Solstice of Heroes:

Perhaps there is a chest behind the destroyed wall that can be opened with the key and has tasty loot for the Guardians?
By August 27, we should know. Because then the “Solstice of Heroes” event ends and so does the European Airzone activity. And who knows, maybe something will happen with the statue in Curse Week 1?
The hope for a new Exotic is not the only thing driving Guardians to feverishly solve this statue mystery. After all, a new Destiny 2 expansion, Shadowkeep, is on the horizon. Maybe the secret room also holds hints that reveal something about the expansion. After all, the European Airzone is the last big event before Shadowkeep. If Bungie has hidden any hints in the game, it will be in the European Airzone.
What do you think, what is the meaning of the cat statue and the secret room?
