Destiny 2 is implementing many fan wishes and feedback with update 2.2.1. The studio has now given a sneak peek at the patch notes in advance. We have summarized some highlights for you.
When is the update coming? According to Bungie, the update is scheduled for Tuesday, April 9. It should be released on all platforms at around 6 PM our time without downtime.
Here are the highlights of update 2.2.1
Please note that this is a selection of known upcoming changes. A complete list of all changes will be available in the patch notes on April 9.
Random Rolls from Xur: This is something many fans have wanted. Starting April 12, exotic armor offered by the mysterious agent of the Nine will feature random perks.
New exotic masterwork catalysts: Many exotic weapons in Destiny 2 still lack the corresponding masterwork catalysts. With update 2.2.1, four new catalysts will be added, which can be obtained through Nightfall, Vanguard strikes, and the Crucible.
These include:
- Catalyst for the grenade launcher Prospector (from Nightfall and Strikes)
- Catalyst for the hand cannon Rat King (from Nightfall and Strikes)
- Catalyst for the auto rifle Hard Light (from Nightfall and Strikes)
- Catalyst for the auto rifle SUROS Regime (from the Crucible)
How to obtain all currently available catalysts and what they can do, you can find out here: All masterwork catalysts in Destiny 2 and how to obtain them
Warlock bug finally fixed:
A bug has long caused the blossom ability of the Void Warlock to deal no damage. This perk is currently completely useless. This bug is finally set to be fixed with the upcoming update.
Desired raid triumph recognized retroactively: The “Diamantengleich” triumph is achieved when the raid team completes the “Scourge of the Past” raid flawlessly. This achievement is a prerequisite for the title Blacksmith.
For a long time, this triumph was bugged. Even if teams achieved flawless runs, it was not recognized. Bungie has already fixed the bug, but the achievement was unfortunately not recognized retroactively, much to the frustration of many fans.
This will change with the upcoming update. Guardians who were denied the triumph because of the bug will receive it retroactively with the update. There will be a notification in-game for this.
Wishender bug will be fixed: The exotic bow Wishender gives the bearer a type of x-ray vision, allowing them to see other players through walls. However, when the bearers were invisible, they could not use the x-ray vision at that time. This bug is set to be fixed now.
Destiny 2 will be more generous with new weapons in Season 6: Season 6 brought a total of 10 new weapons for Gambit Prime and Reckoning. However, many Guardians felt that the drop rates for these weapons were too low. With the new update, players should finally have better chances to get these new firearms.

Changes to Gambit Prime: There are some changes to the invasion in Gambit Prime.
- An invasion kill now heals 8% of the Primeval’s health. Previously it was 12% per kill
- The cooldown of the invasion portal during the Primeval phase increases from 30 seconds to 40
- The cooldown starts when the player is killed or returns from an invasion
- Additionally, Gambit Prime now counts towards unlocking the weekly Gambit clan engram
Changes to Ada-1: The vendor of the Black Armory will also see some updates to her inventory with the new update.
The developers want to ensure that there are not several weeks without powerful weapon frames for certain firearms. Therefore, the weekly rotation at Ada-1 will be removed. After the update, she will offer all weapon frames every week.
Increased chances for rare cosmetics: The upcoming update also brings good news for title hunters.
For a long time, many fans have called for the randomness in the hunt for titles to be removed or at least the drop rate of certain rare items needed for this to be increased.
While randomness will not be completely eliminated, the drop rate will be increased with update 2.2.1 for items like the ship, ghost, and sparrow from the Dreaming City or the Forsaken raid Last Wish. The rare fusion rifle One Thousand Voices is also likely to drop with a higher probability.
Changes to quests and bounties: Some quests and bounties will also be improved. For example, power-boost bounties that have been deleted or expired will become available again from the Drifter. However, each of these bounties can only be completed once per character.
Additionally, all 4 weekly roles in Gambit Prime now grant powerful helm rewards.
Numerous sandbox changes: As part of the Arc Week, which starts with update 2.2.1, extensive changes to various sub-focuses of different Guardian classes will be made.
Many abilities and supers will be buffed. You can find out how the changes will look in detail here: Destiny 2 presents Arc Week – This is what’s behind the new event
