A Czech designer for video game characters was fired by Riot Games. She was responsible for 23 skins for League of Legends. Her residence permit is also tied to her job in LoL, which is why she now has to quickly look for another job.
Who is the designer? It is Tereza “Teya” Rozumkova, who worked for Riot Games as a character designer for over four years. During her time with the publisher, she was responsible for 23 skins in the game League of Legends. She has been involved with a total of 40 additional skins and their integration.
One of the most popular games from Riot Games is Valorant. In the video, the publisher introduces the new console version of the game:
Designer looking for a new job via X
Why does she have to leave the USA? Currently, Tereza Rozumkova resides in Los Angeles, California, according to her X profile. However, she was apparently born in the Czech Republic and trained there.
This means that with the loss of her job, her residence permit in the USA is now also at risk. She is likely on a work visa and therefore only has 60 days to find something new.
On X, Tereza Rozumkova is now looking for a new job and states that she wants either a position in Europe or in the USA.
What are the reactions? Under the post of Tereza Rozumkova, there are many former colleagues expressing their sympathy and mourning that she will no longer be part of the team:
- “Your work is incredible, I wish you only the best for the future” (Wanda on X)
- “I’m so sorry, Tereza. It’s their loss, any team would be happy to have you (…)” (James Marsano on X)
- “I’m sorry, Teya, I hope you find something quickly” (Spideraxe on X)
Why was the designer fired? The designer did not disclose the reason for her dismissal. However, she is not the only one who has been fired by Riot Games.
Riot Games states that this is not about saving money, but they want to ensure that they have the right people for the positions. They want to ensure that League of Legends remains “great” in the coming years.
