So far, most countries in the world have been able to see the new film Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle. The box office revenues show what a great success the creators of the anime have achieved.
How much did the movie earn? On its opening day, Demon Slayer grossed approximately 60,000 euros in the countries where it has been released so far (see Box Office Mojo). As of now (September 15, 2025), only German and French-speaking countries in Europe have yet to see the film, which will further increase this figure. In Germany, it will be available on September 18, 2025.
According to Deadline, this marks the most successful opening day ever for an anime film. In total, around 4.5 million fans attended screenings of Demon Slayer.
This shows that it was the right decision by the creators to not release a 5th season of Demon Slayer. The attendance figures indicate that fans are eager to go to the cinema to see the grand finale surrounding Tanjiro and the Hashira.
Demon Slayer will not receive another season
Why was it the right decision? The many viewers who watched Demon Slayer in theaters found it particularly good. On IMDb the film holds a rating of 8.7/10 with over 21,800 votes cast (as of September 15 at 9:00 AM).
The animation in the film and the storytelling are particularly praised. There are many emotional moments and impressive battles.
Some fans criticized the length of the film, stating that some passages could have been shorter. One fan wrote, for example, that he would have liked to see the Hashira in action and less background information on the individual demons.
Additionally, season 4 was as controversial among fans as no other arc before. The season was deemed boring by many on Reddit, while others referred to it as the “calm before the storm”. This is partly due to the pacing of the season. The anime creators adapted a whole episode from one panel of the manga, which divided the community on Reddit.
What happens next? Demon Slayer will show the final arc from the manga in the upcoming films. After that, the storyline will be concluded, and there will likely be no more seasons or films that advance the story. A total of 3 films are planned for fans to watch in theaters.
