One could count the days until the actual release of the RPG Sword Coast Legends, but now it has been postponed by almost a month.
Sword Coast Legends was supposed to be released on September 29. There had even been early access phases. But now the developers around Game Director Dan Tudge announced that they want to take a little more time. The RPG will therefore be released on October 20 for PC. Tudge explains:
“The decision to postpone the launch of Sword Coast Legends was not easy for us. But based on the feedback from our great community, it turned out that we need a few more weeks to provide players with the best possible gaming experience.”
Does this mean that participants in the Early Access discovered things that do not work so well? One can only hope that these are just minor issues. The developers are now offering all pre-order customers the DLC “Rage of Demons” for free as compensation.
Multiplayer Adventures with Game Master
Sword Coast Legends is considered an unofficial successor to the cult RPGs Baldur’s Gate and Neverwinter Nights. Especially interesting is the ability to play the game together with friends like a round of a pen-and-paper RPG. One takes on the role of the Game Master, creates an adventure including game areas, and then leads a group of players through the quests.
The Game Master can intervene at any time and place traps or monsters, creating unforeseen situations. It is even possible for the Game Master to jump into a monster and control it directly. For such actions, they earn points, which can be invested in new traps and more monsters. The game is played from an isometric 3D perspective. Sword Coast Legends will also be released for Playstation 4 and Xbox One in the first quarter of 2016.
