Running away from a brutal killer with 4 people – Dead by Daylight is not for the faint-hearted!
In this multiplayer horror game, you can play in a group with a total of 5 players, in a 4 against 1 mode. Although the player distribution sounds unfair at first – considering that the solo player is equipped with weapons to catch, torture, and eventually kill the other 4 players, the teams might actually be quite “fairly” distributed.
Play as Survivors together or separately – but be careful!
The team with 4 players is called Survivors, while the solo player is the Killer! As Survivors, you have the advantage of playing in third-person view, allowing you to better overview the map and various situations. The Killer plays in first-person perspective to better focus on their hunt.
The goal of the Survivors in each round is to escape the dangerous area without being caught by the Killer. What sounds simple at first quickly turns out to be particularly difficult, as the environment changes in every round. To escape, you can either team up with your fellow Survivors or make your escape on your own. The path together with your teammates is not always the safest one. As a Killer, you need more than just good hearing
Sharpened senses are a great advantage when hunting your victims. With various spawn points, you never know where the Survivors are, unless they are careless and make too much noise! It is difficult for the Killer to recognize the victims on the dark map from a first-person perspective, so keep your eyes open!
With the help of bear traps, you can surprise the Survivors at crucial tactical points when they walk carelessly through the grass. Survivors often pass by access points to generators – so don’t place your traps too obviously. The YouTuber “Graenz” has also made a video from the perspective of the Killer, which introduces you to the gameplay.
Through a progress system, both Survivors and the Killer have many options to improve their escape or hunting strategies with unlockable items. You need to learn and internalize the map to increase your chances of winning – of course, skill and experience are also important to avoid defeat. The creepy atmosphere and music further enhance the horror factor.
The gripping gameplay and the eerie atmosphere seem to please players so much that the game is currently very popular on Steam. According to user numbers, Dead by Daylight with over 13,000 concurrent players is currently ranked 22nd on the list of today’s top games on Steam.
