The sandbox game “The Valley” has significantly increased its funding.
As the developers Fairytale Distillery explain, they now have a significantly higher budget for their hardcore sandbox title “The Valley.” The FilmFernsehFonds Bayern has increased its initial investment from 100,000€ to 180,000€. A so-called “angel investor” has also doubled their investment. This money and the studio’s own funds help “The Valley” exceed 300,000€.
As the Managing Director Alexander Zacherl says after thanking those involved: “We still have a lot to do – I need to get back to work now.”
The Valley has been on the minds of the creators since 2004, since the cancellation of Shadowbane. Full-time work on the sandbox game has been ongoing since 2012.
We introduced “The Valley” in a big interview with Zacherl back then. In the meantime, they wanted to finance themselves through Kickstarter, which did not go so well. But now they seem to be back on track.
