After the hardcore MMORPG Darkfall: Unholy Wars – at least temporarily – had to be discontinued, fans are now hoping for the successor Darkfall: Rise of Agon.
Darkfall: Rise of Agon is based on the classic Darkfall Online, the first version of the game, which many hardcore MMO fans mourned when it became known that the developers only wanted to focus on the sequel Unholy Wars. Both games simply could not be continued, which is why the license was awarded.
A classic returns
Currently, two new versions of Darkfall Online are even being created: Darkfall: New Dawn and Darkfall: Rise of Agon. The first closed beta of the latter is now approaching. After successfully getting the licensed game running on their own servers, the team at Big Picture Games is now focusing on making improvements to the client and gameplay.
They proceed with caution, as they do not want to change the original Darkfall too much. The reason they acquired the license was that they wanted to revive the venerable MMO. Nevertheless, some adjustments are needed to modernize the game a bit.
The first beta
The closed beta of Darkfall: Rise of Agon begins tomorrow, Friday, August 5. The first two weeks will be free to play, after which you will need to purchase a founder’s package – after all, the development of the game needs to be financed somehow. They hope for plenty of feedback from testers. Anyone who would like to participate in the beta can sign up on the official website and will be selected with some luck.
