CD Projekt Red clearly positions itself on loot boxes and microtransactions. It promises for Cyberpunk 2077 “no bullshit”, like with The Witcher 3.
A few days ago, we reported that there were new details about Cyberpunk 2077 in an interview. It was stated that they want to increasingly focus on online opportunities in the future to generate long-term profits.

All fans of the developers CD Projekt Red immediately sounded the alarm bells. In the forums and on Reddit, there were worried threads from players. They all hoped that the creators behind The Witcher 3 would not embark on the same “dark path” as other game developers.
Especially EA with Star Wars: Battlefront 2 was repeatedly cited as a negative comparison example.
To reassure the fans, the developers responded on Twitter and addressed a few clear words to the players.
“Don’t worry. When you think of Cyberpunk 2077, expect no less than with The Witcher 3 – huge singleplayer, open world, story-driven RPG. No hidden traps, you get what you pay for – no bullshit, just an honest game like in Wild Hunt. We leave greed to others.”
This clearly positions CD Projekt Red and the game Cyberpunk 2077, and it does not shy away from dishing out a few jabs at other developers.
Online features are of course not excluded. However, it will probably not lead to the now typical “loot box rip-off” that has become more common in the industry.
Whether CD Projekt Red can keep these words will be shown by time. In any case, they will be measured against this tweet in the coming years. Woe to them if Cyberpunk 2077 is not at least as extensive as The Witcher 3 …
What expectations do you have for Cyberpunk 2077? Do you find this strong reaction from the developers good?
