Developer Treyarch has announced that starting next week “Custom Games” will be available for the Blackout mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Private Matches are supposed to give players the opportunity to get acquainted with Blackout or happily shoot friends.
Treyarch has announced this: Currently, the developers of Call of Duty are in a real announcement frenzy. It is noticeable that Black Ops 4 is meant to be regularly changed and expanded like a “Games as a service” title.
On Reddit, the current plans have been presented and what will come next week: Private Matches for Blackout.
This is what Custom Games are for: The Blackout Custom Games are designed to allow players to enter private matches to explore the map and objectives at their own pace. In Fortnite, the “Creative Mode” serves for such tutorial experiences.
Blackout is actually a ruthless mode for 100 players – in private matches, newcomers can take it easy. Or experienced players can just shoot each other with up to 11 friends. Three squads of 4 can also compete against each other.
So Private Matches serve as a tutorial: Players are to have the chance to enjoy the “battle royale” experience of Blackout together with their friends. They do not have to rush or be rushed but can explore the map at their own pace.
The Blackout mode will not take place with 100 players, but only with a maximum of 12. However, the Custom Games are expected to grow and evolve over time.
This is how Treyarch plans to gradually allow more players and implement more features.
Custom Games as “XXS” Blackout for practice
This is how the Custom Games start: Initially, Blackout in Black Ops 4 offers as a Custom Game:
- Room for up to 12 players per match
- Solo, Duo, or Quads
- support for “Weapon Camo”
- full character customization
The mode is only playable online
Weapon Camouflages come to Blackout
What is Weapon Camo? These are camouflages. Players can earn these camouflages in Multiplayer, Zombies, and Blackout modes and then set them in the Armory.
When they find the weapon in-game, the camouflage is automatically applied.
The camos themselves are nothing new – but what is new is that they are coming to the Blackout mode.
When is all this coming? This is still not entirely clear. During the week starting December 17, one can probably expect the update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
