A player has managed to reach the new maximum power level in Destiny 2 in no time. Shortly after the start of Season 7, the Guardian was already at 750. The reason for this was apparently a severe glitch.
How many Guardians are starting the new season: The start of a new season in Destiny 2 means for many Guardians initially: Leveling with the new max power level in sight. Because in the Season of Opulence, the level cap was raised by 50 and is now at power level 750.
If you want to get a taste of the new raid that recently destroyed Datto, or tackle the new 6-man activity “The Menagerie”, then a higher power level is of great advantage. To reach the new cap, it would normally take several days, if not weeks.
A player was particularly quick and achieved the new maximum level of 750 shortly after the start of Season 7 – mind you, in less than two hours.
How did he do it? The Guardian “SHHHMURDAA- _” claims to owe the quick path to power level 750 to a curious glitch or bug. However, he cannot explain exactly how it happened.
What exactly does the glitch do? Normally, with the start of a new season, the ranks in PvP or Gambit are reset. Therefore, Guardians should start at 0.
But to his surprise, “SHHHMURDAA- _” noticed after the weekly reset on June 4, the start of Season 7, that despite the new season, he immediately had the highest Gambit rank with 15,000 points.
He tried to reset the rank and received a powerful reward for it. His astonishment grew even larger when he found out after the rank reset that he still remained at 15,000 points, and the rank was not reset despite the reset. He reset it again – with the same result.
This allowed him to reset his infamy rank as long as he collected powerful rewards until shortly thereafter, he had filled all gear and weapon slots with 750 items.

Can the glitch be reproduced? The “victim” cannot say what caused the glitch. Also, he cannot confirm whether this glitch can be replicated in any way or if other players are affected by it.
However, he recorded the error in a video and uploaded it to YouTube, urging Bungie to fix their game quickly.
What does Bungie say? The studio has now also become aware of this phenomenon and the corresponding video and is investigating the incident. It currently looks like it is an isolated case.
