The ZDF show Bares für Rares has now achieved cult status for many. An alleged hacker is now forcing the show onto Twitch. At MeinMMO you can find out what really happened.
What happened? On the official Instagram account of the popular ZDF show Bares für Rares, a series of posts caused confusion last week (KW 46). An unknown person claimed to have the login credentials for the account, stating that the atmosphere there would change.
There were supposed recordings from the set as well as a video call from Horst Lichter with a person wearing a mask of the moderator’s face. On Thursday, November 13, 2025, the responsible parties finally announced that they had regained control of the channel.
The Twitch streamer HandOfBlood is known for quirky actions.
Main Suspect: HandOfBlood
What was behind it? In a new video, Horst Lichter has now commented on the situation. With a – probably hardly serious – sense of concern, the moderator promises “relentless clarification.”
He explains that an alleged intern of the show “hacked” the account. Although the responsible parties took his phone away, the culprit had already changed the access credentials. To reveal the new login details, he demanded a joint Twitch stream with Horst Lichter.
Who could that be? For many, there is really only one person in question for the treacherous cyber-attack: the Twitch streamer HandOfBlood. His name keeps coming up in the comments on TikTok, where the video received over 2 million views. And it actually seems very plausible:
Since HandOfBlood shifted his focus from YouTube to Twitch in early 2024, he has become the king of collaborations in the German scene. From DJ Ötzi to Robert Habeck to Michael “Bully“ Herbig, the streamer has everyone at his tile table. So if anyone could lure the well-known moderator to Twitch, it would be HandOfBlood.
Moreover, the streamer has previously carried out similar “takeovers,” like in August of this year, when he hijacked the gamescom stream of GameStar. The action with the video call fits perfectly into this picture.
Are there any other suspects? Also under discussion are MontanaBlack, Papaplatte and Elton, the former sidekick of Stefan Raab, who now streams on Twitch. Collaboration with Rumathra, who watched several episodes of the show “Rosins Restaurants” on Twitch until he caught the attention of the professional chef, cannot be ruled out.
What is the whole point? Bares für Rares belongs to the formats that, despite having an older audience, has built a kind of cult status among younger people – just think of the “What will it be” meme.
The responsible parties seem to fully embrace this turn. Twitch streamers JenNyan and Faister have already been guests on the show, and the official Instagram account was already filled with memes and quirky posts before the supposed hack. Just in October, there was a special pop culture moment in the show: Pokémon trading cards reach a four-figure value on Bares für Rares, which especially amazes Horst Lichter
