Death Stranding has impressed many players with its creative story and world, but has also confused many viewers since the trailers. Now, the video game series is getting its own anime.
What kind of anime will it be? So far, the series is titled Death Stranding Isolations, but it may change before the release. Although the anime is set in the world of the video game, it will tell a completely new story.
The focus is therefore no longer on protagonist Sam but on a young man and a young woman. The two embark on an adventure in a world where the dead are connected to the world of the living.
Due to explosions, humanity is reduced to a minimum. Some people try to reconnect the isolated individuals, for example, through bridges. So far, there is no trailer, but there is a first image that likely shows the two protagonists.

Who is responsible for the anime? The anime is being produced by E&H Production in a hand-drawn 2D animation style. The studio is relatively young, so it has only been involved in a few projects, including Ninja Kamui, Red Cat Ramen and Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation. Their latest work is the anime for Bullet/Bullet.
Hideo Kojima, the head of Kojima Productions, is involved in the anime as an executive producer.
When and where can you watch it? The anime is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2027. There is no exact date yet.
What does anime expert Jasmin think about it? As an anime expert at MeinMMO, this series feels like a perfect fit for me. I’ve wished for series or movies based on the video game since the release of Death Stranding, as the story and world fascinated me immensely – the gameplay, not so much.
It was totally annoying and at some point just felt like stretching the gameplay duration while trudging around, hauling packages, and setting up ladders that would end up broken and rusty on the way back. That’s why I haven’t yet braved Part 2, which peacefully rests in my game shelf.
However, the anime is a great opportunity for me and other players who found the gameplay rather mediocre to experience more of the game’s world. All the mysteries and the art style have completely thrilled me – that’s why I’m looking forward to every anime that is currently in the works.
Because beware: You should not confuse this anime with another series that is also in production related to Death Stranding.
