Conan Exiles: Barbarians like to build, but prefer to destroy

Funcom has released a new stream for the upcoming survival RPG Conan Exiles, showing you how to craft and build.

Without a shelter, you won’t get far in the role-playing game Conan Exiles. Especially because of the weather. Sandstorms can be deadly if you don’t have the right equipment to withstand these natural forces. So you need at least a hut.

You create buildings in Conan Exiles by first collecting the appropriate resources. Wood and stone are a good start. Depending on how many and what resources you have, you can build different buildings, which are available in different versions.

Crafting stations work like factories

The simplest form, Tier 1, is small and not very robust, while Tier 3 buildings offer a lot of space and can withstand more during an attack. In the buildings, you set up crafting stations. For example, a furnace, where you can refine resources and create certain objects. At the tanning table, you make armor from hides, and at the forge, you process ore into weapons.

Crafting works more or less automatically. You put all your hides on the tanning table along with any required resources and start the crafting process. Now the armor is automatically produced.

You can place buildings freely where there is space. You first set a foundation, on which you then place other objects like walls and stairs. The video shows you how to build a tower this way and then reinforce it. This works simply and quickly.

Within a few minutes, a fortified tower built into a rock face stands. Of course, you need to proceed tactically and build your fortress so that it is hard to attack. The environment plays an important role here.

Build and Destroy!

The developers also demonstrate in the video that buildings can be destroyed. They place several jars with an explosive liquid in one of the houses and blow it up. A Tier 1 building cannot withstand such an explosion, which is why it is wise to improve your constructions from time to time.

Conan Exiles launches in Early Access on PC on January 31, with the Xbox One version following in spring. Unfortunately, PlayStation 4 owners will not have the pleasure of an Early Access version.
