The long weekend of the open beta of Overwatch is over and, overall, I had as much fun with my friends as I haven’t had in a long time in a game. However, even the most beautiful experiences always come with a few negative points that have regularly annoyed me. And who would have thought? It’s again people who drive me up the virtual wall!
Always these “Noobs” in the Betas! Scandal!
“Omg, noobs, don’t choose [any hero here]” – On one hand, I can completely understand that some heroes are really not optimal in certain situations (an attacker team with two Widowmaker most likely doesn’t need a third). But can’t that be expressed more kindly?
How on earth does one come up with the glorious idea of calling other players “Noobs” on the first evening of a beta? Nearly 90% of the players were able to check the game out for the first time that day – what else could they possibly be? Fully trained eSports professionals with a degree in “360° no scope” and a diploma for “ez, rekt” spamming?
Such statements are particularly uplifting, of course, when they come from teammates who themselves are just chasing kills and consider the “Map Objectives” something pretty disgusting that should definitely be avoided.
Presumably, these experiences are also due to the “don’t care” attitude that many people have when they haven’t even bought a game yet. They run no risk of losing anything for bad behavior, so they can behave like an axe in the forest without worries.
The 30-Minute Experts
A second point that massively annoyed me was all the so-called “experts” who, after half a day in the beta, already unpacked their professional knowledge and exactly knew which character was “completely overpowered” and which was “way too weak”.
Ah, why am I even getting worked up? Starting May 24th, I’ll surely do it again – because then the “Noobs!” screamers will reappear and misbehave towards the newcomers again.
