The CoD WWII PC beta is a big disappointment for many fans. The Steam reviews show no mercy and tear apart the shooter in the air.
A difficult start for the beta test of Call of Duty WWII on PC. Already after the first hours, there are many negative reviews from Steam players. Only 29% of almost 10,000 reviews rate the game positively, the rest give a thumbs down.
What is going wrong with the new installment of Call of Duty?
Maps and gameplay are not well received
Is the nightmare of bad reviews for a CoD installment starting again? After the trailer for the last CoD “Infinite Warfare” received over 3 million thumbs down, now there is stress with the latest part of the Call of Duty story.
Currently, the PC beta for CoD WWII is running on Steam, and it apparently does not meet the tastes of many players.
Maps too small, game too fast
A criticism of the beta are the maps. “Maps are too small!” we often read in player reviews. Because these maps are so small, the gameplay automatically becomes fast. Fans find this unfortunate. Many wish for a slower, tactical gameplay.
Other users explain that they are disappointed with the gameplay because there is “simply nothing new.” For them, CoD WWII is “the same average shooter” and brings hardly any changes.
- Player “Ratea xDark” mentions the graphics positively but criticizes the map size: “The maps are smaller than a shoe box. When the spawn point is overrun, unfortunately, you are lucky enough to bite the grass again”
- “myro” writes: “This is not ww2, this is modern warfare with ww2 weapons”
- Domii says: “Instead of the back-to-the-roots of the old Call of Duty games announced by many, this is unfortunately just another run’n’spray shooter without the slightest claim or skill.”
Poor optimization?
Apparently, many players have problems playing the CoD WWII beta smoothly. Despite good hardware, there are supposed to be many FPS issues. But that is only one side of the players.
Other users report positively about the optimization and explain: Although they do not have a high-end PC (but an i5-4440 and a Geforce GTX 1060), they still achieve a constant 100 FPS.
Maybe this problem will be resolved by a driver update.
