The feedback on the PC beta of CoD WWII is extremely negative on Steam. However, the developers are listening and are implementing the first changes to the game.
This weekend, PC gamers can try out the “Call of Duty WWII” beta for free. On Steam, you can easily download, install, and get started (if crashes don’t intervene).
However, there is already a lot of negative feedback during the testing phase. Players are dissatisfied with the gameplay and maps. Additionally, some weapons are considered too strong. Now there are the first balance changes that might calm things down.
CoD WWII Weapon Changes
On Reddit, the developers from Sledgehammer Games are active and are diligently reading players’ feedback. Based on this feedback, some changes have now been implemented in the game. At the top of the list is a damage reduction for submachine guns. The SMGs now have a lower “damage per second” value and a reduced falloff range.
Additionally, the recoil of the STG44 assault rifle has been nerfed.
Buffs have been given to the M1A1, the 1911, and the P-08. The fire rates have been slightly improved.
Technical Changes on the Way
The developers have noticed the technical difficulties reported by many players in their reviews. Crashes occurring mid-match have been noted. A solution for this is currently being worked on.
Additionally, there are minor rendering issues and problems with loading screens. Players report that they are sometimes unable to enter the game because the loading screens prevent them.
Efforts are being made to fix many issues during the testing phase. The following fixes are being worked on:
- Endless loading of levels
- Timeouts when using shader pre-caching and letter-boxing
- Start crashes for Windows 8 users
- Bug fixes for resolution/render settings and advanced graphics options
The beta ends on October 2, 2017. Have you played the beta yet?
