Call of Duty: Warzone brought back the requested trio mode with a playlist update on April 17. But that’s not all. A long-awaited duo mode finally came to the battle royale as well.
What is happening in the Warzone? The creators of Call of Duty: Warzone added a new mode at the beginning of the week, which drew a lot of criticism. The special mode “Scopes and Shotguns” replaced the standard trio mode, and Infinity Ward already announced on Twitter that the normal trios would be back today.
Trios are back and bring Duos along – with a slight catch
With the playlist update, we not only got the trio mode back. There is also, for the first time, a mode that we can now start as a 2-player team without disadvantages – Plunder 2-player.
Which modes are currently running in the Warzone? In total, we currently have the choice between 4 different modes, and for team sizes of 1 to 4 players, there is now something for everyone:
- BR-4 player
- BR-3 player
- BR-Solo
- Plunder 2-player
The developers are demonstrating once again that they are responding to the demands of the players. Just last week, the trio mode was replaced and was unavailable for a while. After loud criticism, the trio mode returned before the weekend.
This week, they tried something new with the special mode “Scopes and Shotguns”, which also ran as a trio. However, it did not receive much love from the players. Now the trio mode is back and brings us a duo mode as well. However, that duos are coming as a Plunder mode may not appeal to everyone.
What do the first reactions look like? Under the post with the announcement for the playlist update on Twitter, the problem with the constantly changing playlists becomes clear. Instead of being happy about the desired BR trio mode, many users are calling for the BR-2 player (April 17, 9 AM).

Infinity Ward has faced criticism in the past for this. They say they listen to player feedback, but the modes that many active CoD soldiers want keep disappearing from the playlists.
Will this be improved? A further update of the playlist before the Double XP weekend is currently unlikely. The next change will probably not be until next Tuesday. At least we now have a duo mode in the game – the step to BR-2 players is now not far off.
