In Call of Duty: Warzone, Infinity Ward removed the “Plunder” mode with a playlist update on Friday night. This does not sit well with some players: They love the mode because it is fast-paced and there are few campers. There’s also a statement from the boss.
This was the change: The regular playlist update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone went live on Friday night.
The update removed the two popular modes “Plunder” (cash) and “Blood Money” (blood money).
In these modes, players earn their money by killing opponents. The modes are known for their fast-paced action. Players are more aggressive than in classic battle royale modes. Death isn’t as severe, as there are unlimited respawns. Playing aggressively is worthwhile.
Plunder – the addictive mode in CoD Warzone
This was the reaction: Since Friday night, some players of Call of Duty: Warzone have only one topic: “We want Plunder back.”
Among the current patch notes from Saturday, the demand “Bring Plunder back” dominated. CoD Warzone now has so many “battle royale” modes, but no Plunder mode anymore. One user specifically wishes for “Plunder Quad” to return, the 4-player mode.
Another user says it’s “by far the most addictive mode” – Infinity Ward should know their own game and not just remove this mode. It’s rude.
A third user states: He likes Plunder because it offers a good compromise to battle royale. The gameplay is like battle royale, but there aren’t so many campers because players need money and respawn quickly.
Boss says: Plunder will be back soon
This is what the boss says: The protests have prompted Joe Cecot to respond. Cecot is the Co-Design Director of Multiplayer at Infinity Ward, essentially the boss.
He explains that Plunder was removed to make room for the “Free2Play weekend” for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and for Warzone Rumble.
He loves the “Plunder” mode as well. It is one of the “favorite modes he’s ever worked on.”
It will be “back soon.”
Apparently, Infinity Ward wants to focus on the “multiplayer maps” of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare during the free weekend.
When will Plunder return? Cecot does not specify a date. However, observers see Wednesday morning, June 17, as a possible date. Patches usually arrive for Call of Duty Modern Warfare on that day.
That would probably be the earliest time Plunder could return.
