In CoD Warzone streamer Nickmercs currently leads the rankings in streaming on Twitch. But the pro is fed up. He has lost all passion right now and would rather be playing just about anything else than Warzone.
Who is Nickmercs? Nick ‘Nickmercs’ Kolcheff is currently the biggest Twitch streamer for Warzone. In July 2021 alone, he was watched by his fans on Twitch for more than 2.5 million hours (via Sullygnome). He is also one of the highest-paid gamers.
Furthermore, Nickmercs created many popular guides and videos for Warzone: he is undoubtedly an authority in the game.
But currently, he is out of steam, announcing in a kind of farewell video that Warzone doesn’t excite him anymore.
The fire for Warzone is out
These are Nickmercs’ reasons: Nickmercs addresses in his video that he is currently out of steam. He says:
I have no desire to play Warzone. I mean zero, nothing! I’d rather play that damn Pokémon! I’m serious, man. I just don’t want to play anymore. My fire for Warzone is extinguished. Not for gaming, but for Warzone. I am just burned out.
Are cheaters and hackers to blame? In another statement, Nickmercs laments that cheaters are ruining the game right now. He doesn’t explicitly mention this as a reason for his supposed retirement, but he clearly states:
Hacking has reached a point in Warzone where it’s just different for me. In my last four tournaments, I got “hacked out.” Hacking is totally crazy right now and I believe there are really a lot of players who hack. And nobody is doing anything about it. As if they don’t care. At least that’s how it seems to me.
Will Nickmercs ever play Warzone again? That’s hard to say, because Nickmercs could jump back into Warzone at any time. Preferably when the next CoD comes out at the end of 2021 and shakes things up again. He says:
There has never been a better time to stop playing CoD, you know? It’s August, there are still a few months until the next CoD comes out. You see that it’s currently the worst time to play Call of Duty in general.
