MeinMMO shows you 3 long-range weapons with which you can hit directly at the start of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.
It starts at 7 PM – Call of Duty: Warzone 2 celebrates its release together with Season 1 of Modern Warfare 2. On MeinMMO, we are following the release with a live ticker.
To ensure you know which long-range weapons are top contenders at launch, here are 3 options including setups. One thing is clear: many in the community see LMGs at the top at launch.
Although Warzone 2 has not been released yet, the same weapons as in MW2 are in the game. Therefore, we already know which assault rifles are strong at range:
We have also ensured that the setups for the weapons were tested after the Season 1 update – as there was an immediate balance patch at the season start.
CoD Warzone 2: Starter Weapons – M4
The M4 is your first assault rifle and is also very valid. If you’re jumping into Warzone 2 and haven’t played CoD MW2 before, go straight for the beginner assault rifle.
We have put together a setup that you can create with the attachments you unlock early. Adjust the setup once you have more attachments.

- Barrel: Tempus Hightower 20″
- Optic: SZ Lonewolf Optic
- Underbarrel: FSS Sharkfin 90
- Magazine: 60 Round Mag
- Rear Grip: Sakin ZX Grip

The gunsmith now works differently, and you need to unlock many attachments with other weapons. Here are some important meta attachments that you should unlock.
As meta contenders among the assault rifles, the TAQ-56 and the Lachmann 5.56 are considered – but LMGs are likely to be more popular at launch.
CoD Warzone 2: Starter Weapons – HCR 56
The HCR 56 offers low recoil and good control even at long distances. Among the long-range weapons, it is currently considered one of the top favorites among the meta contenders.
CoD Warzone 2: HCR 56 Setup
- Barrel: Bruen Turaco 686mm
- Optic: Schlager 3.4x
- Comb: TS-30 Stock
- Underbarrel: VX Pineapple

This weapon corresponds to the AUG from earlier CoD games, by the way. At the launch of Warzone 1, the AUG with 5.56 rounds was the first meta weapon that found many fans.
CoD Warzone 2: Starter Weapons – RPK
The LMG RPK has a very clean recoil behavior. Together with the HCR, these two light machine guns could dominate the meta in the first days.

Although much is already being tried and speculated in the community, these 3 weapons represent a first recommendation for the release. However, how the meta develops remains to be seen.
We will keep an eye on the developments on MeinMMO and regularly bring articles with weapon recommendations and maintain a large list of the best weapons currently – as soon as the first meta weapons are known.
