It’s almost here: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set to release on October 28. Before that, the developers will release Update 1.04 – the already 2nd major update before the release. The patch notes reveal multiplayer changes, and MeinMMO shows you the details.
In a new blog post, the team behind Modern Warfare 2 shared adjustments in multiplayer compared to the beta. They also thank us players:

CoD MW2: Update 1.04 on October 26 – Patch Notes
When is the update coming? The new features are already online, you can download the update.
How large is the update? Reports are currently very varied. Xbox players are reporting sizes of 60 GB, while we had a 20 GB update on the PS5. If you previously downloaded Update 1.03, it might only be 2 GB.
What is included in the update? The developers indicate that many of the current changes are based on player feedback from the beta:
- Enemy visibility
- New icon above the heads of enemies
- Light and contrast settings adjusted on player models
- Audio
- Footsteps are less audible
- Footsteps of team members are better distinguishable from enemies
- Activation of “Dead Silence” is hardly audible anymore
- Third-person
- When zooming, you can only go completely into zoom view with large scopes and special scopes – standard scopes remain in third-person when zooming
- Weapons
- There were balancing updates, but no details on that
- User interface
- User interfaces have been adjusted in the menu, gunsmith, and generally
- Movement
- Sliding, hanging, and diving have been revised – furthermore, movement exploits from the beta have been removed
- Matchmaking
- They want lobbies not to be dissolved after a game – the system is not fully optimized yet, and they are still working on it
