In Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone there are issues over the weekend. Since the updates last week, players have been complaining about lags, long wait times, crashes to the desktop, and issues with voice chat. Some players are not receiving experience points.
These are the 4 problems: Since the major update on April 28 and the hotfix on April 30 CoD Modern Warfare and Warzone are suffering from 4 issues:
- it often takes longer for a match to start now. Players complain that they have to wait 15 to 20 minutes in extreme cases before the game begins.
- Call of Duty is overall more unstable. There are lags and crashes. Players end up on the desktop.
- some players report they are currently not receiving exp – as a result, progress is stalling.
- the team chat no longer works across “Cross-Play” lobbies.
Update May 5: The 2 most annoying issues, matchmaking and battle pass progress, are already being worked on with high pressure: CoD MW & Warzone: Fixes for the 2 currently most annoying issues are already in progress
Fix came, problems remain – No EXP, long wait times
This is what Activision says: They informed on Twitter at 04:14 AM German time on the night of Friday to Saturday that they have released a fix for the connection issues and long wait times and are continuing to monitor the situation.
They thank the players for their patience.
Did that help? Not really. Players continue to complain about long matchmaking issues.
Some players are also complaining that they are currently not receiving experience points in Call of Duty. This is particularly frustrating as there is currently a double EXP weekend ongoing.
Activision states that they are currently looking into all these issues. People should wait for updates. The latest information on this came just Sunday morning.
Team chat no longer works in Cross-Play lobbies
What is wrong with the team chat? Since the update on April 28, there have been issues with the game’s voice chat. Players can no longer communicate with their friends when stuck in Cross-Play lobbies.
Infinity Ward has confirmed this as an issue and they are working on it. There is no estimate yet on when they will be able to resolve the issue.
Players protest with memes about the new patch
This is the mood: There has been a lot of criticism in the communities lately. The update from April 28 was extremely large and increased Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to almost 200 GB.
However, the patch has brought a lot of trouble, and the “fix” from May 2 has not really helped.
Especially the long wait times and the EXP problem, while there are bonus EXPs, seem to be getting on many players’ nerves.
The famous meme of the toothless, Spanish-speaking man is circulating, where the wildest stories are attributed to him in subtitles. The man is, by the way, a Spanish comedian and originally tells a crazy anecdote about how he wanted to clean paella pans in the sea and they were washed away by the tide.

The update on April 28 is causing trouble for Call of Duty: Warzone anyway. The most important change that the update made to gameplay was already rolled back shortly after.
