Starting now, you can begin the preload of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. PC players will have to wait a little longer.
Update (October 21): The preload has now started for both PS4 and Xbox One. Only PC players still have to wait a bit.
When does the preload start on PC? For PC, the start time is set for Tuesday, October 22 at 7:00 PM German time.
When does Call of Duty: Modern Warfare start? In a blog post, Infinity Ward stated that the PS4 and Xbox versions will launch at midnight on October 25. The PC version is expected to go live at 3:00 AM.
Original report – What’s included in the preload: The preload of Modern Warfare is divided into several packages that can be downloaded individually:
- Two Campaign Packs
- One Multiplayer Pack
- One SpecOps Pack for the Co-op mode
- And one “Hub” game
On PS4, there is also a pack for the exclusive Survival mode.
Those who purchased the more expensive Operator or Enhanced Editions of Modern Warfare will receive additional Operator packs for the preload.
Update – How do I start the preload? The download should automatically start for all Xbox and PS4 players who have pre-ordered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. If this is not the case, simply visit the page of Modern Warfare on the Xbox Store or the PlayStation Store or the respective game libraries.
Here you should see the option to pre-download the files. If it does not appear yet, you may have to wait a few hours. There have been reports of delayed timing in different regions.
How much is the preload? Officially, the size of Modern Warfare on Xbox One is stated as 45GB. However, a few players report that they have to download significantly more – about 137GB. The PS4 version is said to be 61GB in size.
When does the preload come to PC?
You will have to wait this long: The preload timeframe for Modern Warfare on PC is set for October 22. The preload starts at 7:00 PM.
The process should be exactly the same. The preload will then start with the various packages you need to download, minus the Xbox packs and the Survival mode.
