Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has a special system for legendary weapons. You can earn blueprints that grant you access to special weapons.
What are these blueprints? These blueprints give you access to special weapon versions that already come equipped with a unique mix of attachments and perks and have a distinct appearance. So you already have attachments and other items built into the weapon – even if you still need to earn them for the standard version of the gun.
What is the difference compared to regular weapons? This is how these weapons differ from the normal versions, as you can only obtain them in their base form and then expand them through their weapon ranks to unlock new attachments. The guns from the blueprints already have specific modifications and can be used even if you haven’t unlocked the base version of the weapon yet.
How to get the blueprints for legendary weapons
How do you obtain the blueprints? You need to be active in missions. There, you can receive a blueprint as a reward that gives you a fully equipped weapon.
However, you can also get blueprints from the XRK weapon pack. This is included with the Operator Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Where can I find these missions? To see which tasks you need to complete for the blueprints, you can check the “Headquarters” menu and then look under “Multiplayer Challenges”. There you will find the Missions tab, where all 13 currently available missions for multiplayer are listed. The missions include a specific range of tasks to complete.
Note: You can select a mission and activate it. Keep in mind: You can only make progress in missions if you have activated them. Your previous achievements will not be retroactively counted towards this.
Only one mission can be active at a time. You must complete all the tasks of the mission before you receive the blueprint at the end.
Moreover, missions are also a great way to level up quickly in Modern Warfare.
What do you do in the Armory?
How do I use the blueprints? You need to go to the Armory in the weapon menu. There you will see all the guns you have earned through blueprints. If a blueprint is unlocked or available, you can easily activate it for one of your loadouts.
Additionally, you can view the blueprint weapons in the Armory and see which perks and attachments they already come with.
Through the Armory, you can also access the gunsmith, where you can individually customize the weapons. There are even 15 secret weapons that you can build using this feature.
Where can I equip the new weapon? Once a blueprint is activated, you can select it at the corresponding base version of the weapon in the class editor and then use that weapon in the next match.
Go to the multiplayer menu of the game, select weapons, then edit equipment, and choose the loadout with which you want to use the weapon.
Navigate to the corresponding base version of the weapon for which you have unlocked the special blueprint. To the right of the weapon tab, you will see an Armory symbol with a number. Through this tab, you can activate the alternative version of the weapon for this loadout.
The number indicates how many blueprints for this base version of the weapon you have unlocked.
That’s why you should use blueprints: Blueprints are incredibly useful because they give you a fully finished weapon right away, which looks really cool and has numerous attachments already unlocked. So you don’t have to grind through leveling your weapon ranks to get good attachments; you have a (usually) good weapon readily available.
